  • Fixed an issue where a system condition preventing the game from pinging our data center locations results in a hang up on the UI when starting the game. Thanks to Duj2 for sending logs. If this condition arises the user will now be prompted to select some data center locations
  • By default Public Custom Games remain with auto-balance enabled while now Private Custom Games have auto-balance disabled
  • Tentative fix for weapon specific daily challenges and achievements not progressing correctly
  • The Learn menu's MacGuffin mode page now includes the information that players spawn with 25 armor when their team is losing within a round and is attacking (the enemy team has the MacGuffin in their base)
  • Fixed some missing names for avatars
  • The Time Trials versions of CTF and Gold Rush maps now contain the prefix ctf and gr in the Time Trials map list to separate them from other Time Trials maps

That account will no longer be possible to use. To report players while in a match, it's possible to press Escape then go to the Match menu and click Report next to someone's name (unfortunately this isn't possible post-game yet). Sorry that you had to listen to this while playing

While it could bring enjoyment to some, allowing for file changes could have many consequences that could harm players' enjoyment of the game and the fairness of the matchmaking and leaderboards.

For example with a file change a person could turn a wall invisible to see another player through it, or create a sound that tells them about the item respawn time or that tells them the position of the other players more easily.

It could also result in the game looking/sounding very different from one video/stream to another as certain changes could make the game unrecognizable and make it confusing for viewers, potentially making the game look/sound less appealing for possible new players that might have tried the game after watching it.

If someone were to add a copyrighted sound in Diabotical it increases the potential of some trouble if the copyright owner thought that this was something available in the game by default.

While some restrictions could ...

I've made a custom announcer of both mixed quake and halo announcer that I personally like, get it here.

Note: I also added the q3 hitsound, because I simply like it better, so be aware of that.

Before you do anything, I recommend backing up the other files.

Go into your Diabotical folder -> audio -> feedback and make a copy of that. Name it feedback_backup or something.

Now you can open the audio.zip and drop the audio folder into the Diabotical folder and overwrite everything.

Of course you can also just not add the announcer files you dislike and leave those out.

I've also made a preview of it here.

I strongly recommend against making any changes to the game files as it can result in a ban by the anti-cheat

There are some bugs that we haven't gotten around to which we are aware of:

- Doors not being openable by firing projectiles at them

- Grenades going through doors, going through walls, not bouncing, doing more than 100 damage

- Nvidia Shadowplay not recognizing Diabotical, you can try using desktop capture or adding Diabotical as a game

- Dodge getting stuck on repeat when you press it as you die, if this happens to you, press your Dodge key again

- Firing animation on some weapons remaining active even when not firing

- Respawning in the same location as another player

- Crossbow and Blaster shots going through enemies/bots close range without hitting them

- Getting stuck on lifts

-Bug type: (UI / Matchmaking / Gameplay / Performance / Lag)

-Description: (if you can provide video/images/details)

-Reproduction: (if you can find a reproduction it can significantly help us)...

It's persistent for everyone.

I can sneak up behind people with ease. The directional sound could use some work, but hearing someone behind you? Forget it, especially in Wipeout.

Everyone I've played w/says the same, and if I'm behind someone, I know I have the drop on them.

OK, I'm going to guess that you are saying that the necessary sounds are being played when they should be played, but they are not audible enough (whether they need to louder, more compressed, or more emphasised through mastering/mixing of the global sound pool).

A hypothetical question for the sake of understanding the issue: do you imagine that the issue that you are describing would be solved if for example we were to substitute the enemy jumping, landing and footstep sounds with really strident, piercing tones? Not that we are gonna do anything resembling that, just to make completely sure we are on the same page to pass along the feedback. If that is the issue it means we may need to look at frequency/compression/timbre/tone/levels of those sounds against other sounds, for example.

The directional sound is terrible.

For some reason, you can't hear people behind you until they're killing you. Huge issue.

Replying here for visibility. We'll get to this soon, there will patch notes tomorrow for the past week listing what we have been focusing on so far.

It'd be very helpful to accelerate progress to talk to people who hate the current audio. In the past we've had groups for specific issues like performance or netcode and it's been very productive. Anyone who is on Discord and fits the description, feel free to DM me, you can find me in our public server.

Regarding the directional sound, here's a few aspects to this that I'm going to mention because in the past sharing info like this has helped people come forward with more actionable feedback.

  • We've had some issues with 5.1 or 7.1 headphones in the past, where specific channels in some orientations remained completely silent, making directional sound very terrible indeed because you'd actually be hearing nothing from some directions. As far as I know, we generally fixed these issues but it could be that ...

With u/haneman 's approval I have removed this post in order to wait for a post where the coins are found through the intended method of getting to them which may be interesting for some people. I've asked u/haneman to then post in that possible future thread about this method which is interesting in of itself. My apologies to u/haneman for making ...

It's likely that the current way to break the sequence will be fixed in order to prevent players from unintentionally breaking the tutorial, so that they can go through it. But I believe you will find another way to get to the coins
