RE Taimi, if you check out my posts after S4E1, you’ll get a sense of what’s ahead for her. We have a lot of players living with disabilities and the last thing we would want to do is simply exploit her disease for cheap pathos. Not interesting to us.

RE Debi voicing Aurene, that’s a pretty funny idea. :-)

She'll probably view the Commander in a similar way we viewed someone like Forgal. He naturally had a parental air to him, but at no point did we feel like he was unquestionably in control. We were still teammates, mostly. He just had more experience.

As far as her voice, I don't trust child actors enough to deliver. She'll probably sound like a young adult if/when she starts talking.

FYI, we use adult actors even for child roles. (Many female VO actors have amazing range and can convincingly play kids of any gender.)

Imagine if she starts talking and she's voiced by James Earl Jones. Thats the plot twist Im waiting for.

Start and restart playing the game with a fair number of different classes, and then stick with the one that feels just right for you. Class preference is a very personal preference and they all play a bit different, so we cannot really give a ultimate answer here, E.g., I myself wanted to play thief at launch but I was just not compatible with that play style. But I will enjoy playing engineer forever.

DPS and defense are primarily a feature of your build/role, and not necessarily a feature of your class. So I wouldn't mind too much about that when choosing.

I completely agree with this, and would add trying out different weapons too. I bought the game at launch (several years before I started working here), and started out on a Sylvari necromancer. I almost quit the game because I didn't like how it felt. But I tried a Charr Engineer and loved it. When my wife picked up the game a couple of months later, she rolled a Sylvari, so I played my necro to play with her, and when I found the staff my opinion of the class completely changed.

We call him "Duncan" internally.

I just want to say bravo and well done to you and the rest of the team. The cinematics have felt SO much more dynamic than the vanilla game, and you all do a wonderful job of visually telling a story.

Thank you.

Thank you! I'll be sure to pass on the praise to the team :)

Those facial and body animations in the trailer. Damn. So good!

We had three animators working on this one (Ryan Goodwin, Da-Hee Im, Chelsey Shuder) and they all nailed it.

Braham smiling during the Commanders speech! OH MY

Yes! I'm so happy someone noticed. I had a lot of fun with the other Cinematics animators figuring out exactly the right amount of smirk/smile to give our B-ham.

New track, probably made for the trailer, but some cues are from 'Fear Not This Night'. Notably at 1:00 and the end!

Yep, this was composed specifically for the trailer by Brendon Williams.

Godzilla 2014 had the same effect. TBH a lot of Western giant monster movie trailers and posters have that design in it somewhere, where the monster is hidden just enough by for, water, mountains, or buildings to show "this thing is fking huge" while not showing off the (full) monster design.

You guys are good. I totally used the Chinatown shot from Godzilla 2014 as ref when building out the edit.

Pretty sure it was a joke, she was recording lines for the festival of the four winds that already happened. Festivals IRL tend to generally use porta potties for bathrooms.

Confirming that the line about the "porta-potty" was a joke ad-lib when she was recording the Festival of the Four Winds content. :) That's why you can hear us laughing in the background. :D

Whoa I've never seen this. I absolutely love this woman's passion for creating a tone for Eir that really inspired me and many other women. Eir is one of the few strong female characters in video games that you can truly relate to and respect at the very least. She's strong but also made very human-like mistakes (or norn-like hehe), she never gave up.

I really loved her, she was always the voice of reason for me, especially during early scenes, when Destiny's Edge really needed it.

Thank you for sharing this with me. :) It truly made my night.

Happy to share. :) Jocelyn has been amazing to work with, and she really cares about voicing Eir. :)

Freezie is played by Fred Tatasciore. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0851317

John DiMaggio is also present, but he's the other snowman.
