I would even argue that the base extra fracture chance on found items with good stats has a too low starting chance, making it completely redundant to even try crafting on a white base. I feel like finding a near perfect white base should be almost as promising to craft on as finding an item with 3 mods you want (keeping in mind having to find more shards to craft on a white base). Possibly reducing the initial fracture chance on a white item for the first 4-6 shards crafted on them, after this point the fracture chance feels fine as is.

The tome in OP was T3 cast speed, T4 cold damage, T3 movement speed and I think that's T3 mana when I originally found it. It never bricked and now has T5 on everything except the mana which I was too scared to...

We're setting up the crafting system so that it's easier to craft on an existing item rather than crafting from scratch. That way it's better to find an item close to what you want, and improve it. If it was easier to craft from a white item, it would be more optimal to shatter all the items you find with good stats rather than looking for items you want.

I was almost sure that this was the case, but the fractures on boots were absolutely ridiculous

That's mostly a factor of sample size, and what items you're crafting on. You were definitely a bit unlucky on those crafts, which is unfortunate, but with any system with randomness, it's bound to happen sometimes. Hope you have better luck crafting those boots going forwards!

But i got a helmet with skull 3D art. I think it had Void Damage and Ward retention.

Then there was a pair of gloves with a LOT of melee attack damage, % damage taken and life on kill.

I can't remember the third unique. But those two seemed extremely niche/specific. I wish they had more universal stats or at least a represented a broader build pool. (I'll agree that at least the gloves were OK, but then they need to be more common)

That helmet (Decayed Skull) was definitely a bit boring before, we've given it a bit more flavor in the next patch. Here's a sneak peek

That's a lot of crafting! :D

Solid feedback, we've definitely noticed the lack of good prefixes for armor and we have talked about moving added health to being a prefix.

Increased Movement Speed (even while crafted first, feels like an unreasonable brick rate)<

Different affixes don't have different fracture chances, do you think the fracture chance is too high overall?

Hi Terranisaur!

We definitely want to have difficult boss fights to ensure that the endgame is challenging. This is something which will likely not really be seen until late in the alpha or even the beta.

We don’t plan on having roles such as those. Typically either healers aren’t really capable of doing much content solo, which doesn’t feel good - or they’ve the same damage as everyone else, so everyone plays healer because they’re superior. Some classes (Paladin’s a good example) will have more utility than others. There’ll definitely be ways of helping your team, but not to the extent of an MMO’s healer.

This is a really cool idea!

Some of what you suggest could be exciting parts of the skill’s specialisation tree.

Dude! I’m so sorry I wasn’t clear.

Nothing is set in stone.

I’m a massive LAN party guy. I’m one of the lead organizers of a massive annual LAN party. I go to monthly LAN parties. We are absolutely working towards LAN play. It’s just not something we are doing for our pre-Kickstarter demo. It’s not our current focus. I have an active D2 LAN character that I play with my buddies once every couple months at a LAN party.

We absolutely want to have LAN play. It is not cut from the game. If we get an outcry for LAN play as a primary feature then it will move up the list from a want to a need.

We will do a big deep dive into our loot system. Right now in the early stages of multiplayer loot will just be fully random and whoever clicks on it first gets it.

Down the road this will change, a lot. It will never be as far to the extreme as D3 is. I love finding gear for other characters or friends. I’m working with the rest of the team to make a big push happen with the game ASAP so we’ll have a bigger devblog that goes into this in detail soon.

You’ve got some really good insights in there Darkquake. Most of your attribute points are going to come from 2 places, passives and gear. We aren’t creating the system with no golden path as the primary goal. I think that as long as there are multiple things that you really want and you can’t get all of them then it’s going to keep things interesting. I’m sure that general builds will emerge. My hope is that people can put their own flair on those builds and still have fun with them. I can tell you the exact perfect amount of stats for 99% of all D2 characters with a very simple formula and that makes their attribute system a low point in character customization. Skills are a pretty similar story. The way you customize your character to make it your own in D2 is through gear. We are absolutely going to have fun and interesting gear decisions that will play very heavily into your build.

So much of these systems are still theoretical because we are actively making the systems ...
