/u/Reav3 I am incredibly excited for K'Sante. One comment mentioned how they speculate he'll draw inspiration from mali prince Sundiata who was called the lion king. Can you comment if the team is going for that sort of west african inspiration for K'Sante?
I'm not sure if the team took specific inspiration from prince Sundiata or not, but Nazumah and K'Sante take inspiration from West African Culture
u/Reav3 loving everything you do, however why is there not justification why the Ahri ASU is taking so long when she was announced in the beginning of the year? With so many champions isn’t only 1 ASU and 1 VGU every one and a half to two years too slow?
One thing I think people don't fully understand about ASUs and VGUs is that we also have to rebuild ALL of their skins from scratch. Some champions have multiple Legendaries (Which take even longer and have a lot of unique animations) or even maybe a Ultimate skin like Udyr. Ahri has a MASSIVE amount of skins. They all need new models, vfx, and in some cases splash art as well. A New Champion, by contrast, only has a launch skin, so they take SIGNIFICANTLY less time then a ASU or VGU. VGUs in the past were done on champs with a lot less skins, many of which didn't even have legendary skins, so they were a lot faster to make.
I know a lot of people think, well Riot is a big successful company, so they can just hire massive teams and do them faster. But even though LoL and Riot have been successful we still don't think the correct way to make high quality products is to just throw a ton of bodies at it. So I was wondering: Is the male Ixtali enchanter meant to be a high-skill support champion? That would be really cool!
No, he is not. We wouldn't want to release 2 very high skill champs so close together as that audience is a little more niche. Also we don't want our first male enchanter to be unplayable by a lot of players

Does this mean that the regular pre-season videos will not include champs and SR gameplay? Or will they include updated versions?
These came a bit early and obviously missing Competitive for example.
We haven't quite figured out what our approach is for Season Start this year. But there will 100% be dev videos. Whether it's traditional "Champions", "Gameplay", and "Skins" is unknown. We're thinking about shaking things up and trying a different approach, but we WILL likely cover all of these things and more!
We want to highlight more devs and teams on League so they can talk about all of the work going on!

Why is Ahri's ASU coming out next year? At this speed, Zilean, Gragas, Cho'Gath, Jax, Shaco will not be getting a VGU/ASU before 2040.
I can't speak to the specifics of that team (since I'm not on it) but Ahri has SO many skins to go through. And they have to update everything. Model, animations, VFX, SFX, rigging, splash, etc.
And some stuff just can't be worked on in tandem because you need to see how everything plays together in-game. So even when all the stuff is done, you still need it all together to make sure it's not too distracting/busy on screen.
I swear it was meant sweetly. Like, "wow, imagine how great it would be to work with this dude".
