Finally, someone at Riot understands what we want. A “f**k you” to Vayne top, it’s perfect.
Riot Maxw3ll and Stashu know what players want.

Based on these datas, I see Shaco pretty high in breadth and depth, especially in depth, yet his name keeps popping up in VGU tier lists; what kind of size would you aim for him, since I assume he is up for bigger work than a Morgana/Ezreal? From dev points, what are the biggest cautions regarding a project such as him?
Yeah he is super deep. I think we would be looking at doing something more like Pantheon/Mundo where we freshen up his kit ,but mostly focus on upgrading his visuals.
Hi Reav3!
Could you show how Yasuo is doing? I heard his popularity has dropped recently, though on the graphs you posted it seems he's still the rightmost champ?
Also, is that chart available online? I remember there was one in the article from a few years ago, and I always found it very interesting, I'd love to have an updated table available :)
Here u go.
He has been lower ever since Yone released, but not that much lower. Him and Kai'Sa usually compete for #1 and #2 highest playrate
Yeah, getting rid of the weave spell is kinda disappointing.
I understand that Riot left out cc on purpose, and their justification makes sense, I just wish that the seamstress felt more... seamstress-y, rather than a kid running around with scissors.
It's true that part of why we didn't go forward with one of the various "thread-attachment" ults (even though they were very cool and a slam dunk on the thematic) is because they were very heavy on cc and pushed Gwen away from the skirmisher space, but there were also other reasons.
The coolest version in my opinion, which is the one shown in the gif in this article, also had an issue where it needed Gwen to input multiple different directional commands back-to-back which didn't fit well with the base kit which already asks you to do that (both Q and E are high-frequency directional casts that are often cast on different vectors). So while it was super fun to use in isolation, it was very demanding of the player to manage casting Q + E + R1 + R2 all in a short timeframe given they were typically all in different directions and some required high precision (mostly the R casts). One of the big advantages of the final ultimate, even though it has three casts instead of two, is...

Errr...
neeko?
We discussed this in the meeting for the article. Neeko is amazed by life. People, mainly. She's curious about them and who they are. But not about things like the smell of dirt or the warmth of the sun. That's what the team wanted to explore.
Sorry if I didn't make that clearer!
And that’s when the team realized that they needed to give Gwen the tools toactually force enemies to play her game.
aaaaaaaaaa typos buggs me so much
nice read as always, always fun to see insights on character development
Oof I missed this when I checked the staging.
I'm very excited cause she looks fun to play and looks good but i'm a bit concerned about her beign designed for toplane. Mostly because toplane is not a very popular role so i have hard time seeing current version of Rito designing her to be inherently less popular becuase of her role.
Think of her as the ultimate "f*ck you" to Vayne top.
Are the LP changes meant to make climbing easier? Can you still get to a point where you are gaining less than you are losing?
The ladder being streamlined isn't a good thing for the game I feel. The prestige in ranked has already faded away.
Have a good day :D
These are not intended to make the climb easier. Players who spike up above their estimated MMR in rank will still receive less LP for a win and lose more for a loss until their MMR catches up to their LP. This is the same as the inverse where you are not at your projected rank for your MMR and you will see higher gains and lower losses.
The changes we made in this patch are so that LP will change less drastically and gains and losses will be smoother and more consistent overall.
You may still see outliers of LP disparity, but overall it should be smoother.
no ender? downvoted
Sure, but bring back twisted treeline
i just want dominion back :(
Nobody talks about Amumu :'(
what's your op.gg? like really, what's your rank?
Rumble is resourceless which allows him to get fed very easily effectively shitting on both top and mid laners. On top of that his ult is hard zoning and dealing far more damage than Anivia. He doesn't need to land any other ability when he lands his ult, the ult can 100-0 you solely, this is how much dmg it has.
The way you wrote this comment clearly indicates that you haven't played against Rumble any recently (outside of aram) because he's picked only by high elo players desperate for LP.
Did you...did you even read anything I wrote other than “Rumble ult” and “Anivia ult”?
But. But. You’re a VFX artist wdym you don’t control balance changes, champion design, matchmaking, and the client????
ikr :(
I was actually having a discussion today with someone about how I think Rumble's ult isn't very good. It just isn't visually clear what it actually does or why it does that.
When Anivia ults, you see a big swirling ice storm and you think "yeah, that's probably going to make me go slow and also hurt me as long as I'm in it.
When Rumble ults, you see a line of rockets land, and then leave behind some fire, and then disappear. I would expect that to do a bunch of up front damage, and then maybe a bit of burning damage over time, or maybe I would expect the rockets to explode at the end and do more damage if I'm on it when they explode.
But that's not how it works. Why does it only do damage over time? Why does it make me go slow at all? Visually, it just doesn't line up very well with what the effect is.

👃
👄 Then fix it plzibegyou
if it was in my power, akali would have been deleted from the entire game a long time ago <3 <3 <3
TY for the ARAM love - any amount is appreciated.
ARAM is the best mode. <3
What, give akali +20/-20 damage dealt/taken buff?
pls don't remind me that's a thing, it's giving me nightmares
Nice to see you here sirhaian. Been a big fan since you were just a small youtuber showing off his custom skins. Cool to see you updating every outdated looking VFX in the game on your own free time!
I actually made my own list of champions whose VFX need to be updated and that list has been knocked down from over 30 champions just 3 years ago to now just (Draven, Elise, Orianna, Vayne, Vi). It’s fantastic to see the visible progress you have brought to the VFX team over at riot
We also have a list of champs we'd like to update. There are still many! :D
That honestly might be the actual hitbox, they just made it bigger to match.
The hitbox is still slightly bigger than the snowball itself. The little windy particle around it is closer to the actual hitbox.
Thanks! Confirms my prediction that humanoids are reasonably popular but not super. Could I ask if you know why champ depth is more compressed this patch since I noticed that most champs are closer to middle line compared to past charts
Its just because it early in the patch. Depth measures how many times people play the same champ in a row on the same patch, so it goes up overtime as the patch goes on
