That's reassuring to hear. I do hope my fellow LGBT can have at least a little safety there. Some stories are quite chilling.
I can't speak for the rest of the community (I'm a bi woman in a longterm hetero relationship), but I feel pretty safe. I see change happening internally and for players who, like me, wanted to see characters that reflected who they are.
Please don't stop holding us accountable, though. It's only with support from this community that we can keep pushing for change.
Is it mandatory that everyone set pronouns so those who set pronouns visible don't feel out of place?
It's similar to having unlimited PTO(which I'm pretty sure riot does), but company culture pressures people not to use it(I don't think riot does, but i'm using it for an example). So the one person who uses a month of PTO is looked down on, so the solution is mandatory 14 vacation.
But my point is you can create resources to foster an inclusive environment, but unless you force ALL employees(especially top level management) to join in, culture won't change.
Not mandatory! I actually don't, but mainly out of laziness and I very clearly present female in my photo and appearance. I think most people do set them, but not everyone. You only see it if you're going to someone's profile (you can include a short bio, photo, and it lists where you sit and your job info like title and manager).

I think... The thing with Riot is that people want change. They want modernity and progress. The biggest thing that I wish I could get across to people is how much everyone at Riot cares. About truly not f*cking players over, creating cool stuff, and about each other. So many people I've only worked with once or twice will reach out to just check in and see how I'm doing. I've never seen anyone use the incorrect ones--at least not willingly. I always make sure to double check and use they/them if they're not listed until I'm corrected.
She also has her pronouns in her bio, good sign she is woke as hell. Could just be lip service of course, as many people tend to be with these things so as to not ruin their careers.
We're able to set our pronouns through Slack. There's a place we can opt into listing them so everyone who interacts with us can make sure they use the correct ones.
In low ELO, probably Morgana or Lissandra. You can rush the defensive component (Seekers/Verdant) and then just farm and outscale them. You can also take teleport to follow them when they roam.

lol it was THE cambridge uni team yes but i didn't go to cambridge, i just subbed in for them. Medic didn't either from what I recall. I went to Cardiff.

I forget what season that was. In season 4 I was a jungle main, and back then I was pretty good at it too, but the only reason I played in that tournament was because they needed a sub. We didn't do very well and neither did I lol. Medic cast me a fair amount when i played in the uni scene though. Cardiff used to be pretty good!

Do you think that your career choice has shaped your perspective on the game more than playing it? Do you see it as something to kill time still or is it your master project now?
Hmmm well I think about league almost all day, everyday as do all the designers on the team. Everyone is constantly thinking about improvements we could make, bugs we could fix, changes we could put in for test, etc. But it's always good to remind ourselves we need to take time to separate work from personal life as well.
I don't think my career choice changed my perspective that much. League is still my master project, but yeah it is cool knowing how every little bit of the game works on the back end and everything. It's also nice to study all of the data we have access to and reason about it.

Nowadays I'm a lot smarter with my time though. As I've gotten older I know that just grinding out games is not the best way to improve, which is not something that was obvious to 2010 me.

Yes, because it's risky, especially for this particular change. On top of that, it's playoffs patch and we don't want to increase the risk of game breaking bugs.
