This is not an intended change, and neither are the changes to shield bash and cut down. some version stomping is going on
Absolutely beautiful work Minaxie. It always blows away our skins teams to see how quickly some players make fan art.
Should I believe in Rogue this year?
CertainlyT is possibly the most fascinating person I've ever met. He has a way of going on these serious-toned abstract tangents in conversations that almost always lead somewhere interesting. He's like a zen master meets gandalf meets Q from star trek. This totally seems like something he'd say that would lead someone into coming up with a brilliant idea.
Read moreOk, let me just try to compare. Data points are the summer playoff rosters 2017 vs. 2019. I'll just try to bring up the data without further comment, as I'm kind of neutral on the whole "NA imports too much" topic. I'll list the imports by teams, and then summarize in the end. Also I'll show the "import-percentage" of each team. Source is lol.gamepedia.com.
Season 2017
C9 2017: Ray, Impact, Jensen. Ray and Impact shared toplane. (3 of 6 players were imports)
CLG 2017: Huhi (1 of 6 players imported)
EF 2017: Looper, Froggen, Gate. Gate was counted as NA resident (2/3 in 9 were imported)
Flyquest 2017: No Imports. 5 Players
Immortals 2017: Flame, Xmithie, CodySun, Olleh, Dodo, Unnamed Italian Player. Dodo, CodySun and Xmithie were NA residents. (3/6 in 7 players were imported)
Phoenix 1: Inori, Ryu, Pirean, Arrow. Inori was an NA resident. (3/4 in 10 were imported)
Dignitas: Ssumday, Chaser, Shrimp, Kean...
Thank you for this, this is great work.
Well I have seen the scene over the years and it has gotten worse. I could make a list (really dedicated fan will probably make one), but you probably don't need one to know that things have not gone is promised they would.
The NA scene got worse? Are we forgetting MSI? Are we forgetting the first Worlds top 4 since 2011? What, NA fails to get out of groups one year (not the first time) and we forget the past 12 months?
So, you might be right. But at least include some data with your post. What percentage of players are imports each year? Or even just 2017 vs 2020? You probably need a special flag for converted locals like Amazing and Jensen and such. But you can't just be like "YOU LIED TO US" and not even spend the effort to see if you're right.
Is there a chance he ever returns to LoL? His champions really pushed the boundaries.
It's always possible
in all honesty, CertainlyT is a huge loss for Riot Games. I can't believe he left. He has made this game much more fun and more popular. I can't imagine the amount of revenue he has singelhandedly brought in as a result of his contributions
He i still at Riot Games, just not working on LoL anymore
Dunkmaster Asol. OMG yes.
Constantly dribbling 3 basketballs around him and then has the biggest, slowest dunk.
Designed to curb some slight increase in snowballed games in 9.23
I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one! It's a special irritation of mine that some of those abilities don't actually Crit. If they did, surely IE would work with them, or Randuin's Omen works against them (the basic attack looking ones, anyway). If magical crit was a real thing (past statikk shiv, corki crits and looks at notes gromp's first 2 basic attacks), then we could offer a magic IE or something, but it's not.
I think it's misleading for new players to have fake crits on champ kits, even if they do feel super satisfying. Our champ designers know how awesome it feels to get crit text anims as rewards for "doing the thing" well, and it shows since we have so many of them now!
Given some actual time to work on this, I'd like to offer a chunky, snappy "crit-like" animation to replace the Crit icon. The text would pop, linger and perhaps even have a small tremble to show just how insanely sick that ability hit was! You're insane, Vlad! Incre...
Read moreJust wanted to offer a little piece of feedback too: my personal favorite winter skins are Snow Day, where it's just champs in the winter gear! It's one of the more casual skin lines which i really appreciate Edit: a typo
Definitely has an appeal that’s potentially wider than the more holiday centric ones. Thanks for engaging constructively and providing feedback, we really appreciate it.
Hm. I'm kinda surprised that they nerfed the normal Ocean Dragon but not the Ocean Dragon Soul. Like, I got that one twice and it becomes almost impossible to die. In one game I just stood and facetanked a Aatrox as Lux healing more than he did with his ult popped. (The Aatrox wasn't feed or ahead but still the healing was really nuts and we just hit each other till his ult ran out and he eventually died unable to kill me fast enough trough the regen)
The other Souls seem fine to me; strong yet not "Game-over broken." But with Ocean Soul you just don't die unless you get super focused and burst down making ot almost impossible to lose teamfights. But don't know, maybe thats just me.
Nerfing the drakes indirectly nerfs the souls, in the sense that you always have to have at least two stacks of a drake before getting its soul (eg. if you get the first four drakes you've gotten elements A, B, C, C and the soul for C). Based on our early data it made sense for us to nerf the drakes and let that carry over to the soul, but I can also see situations in the future where we'll just change a soul, or change the drakes and do a counterbalancing change to the soul to keep its overall effectiveness unchanged..
They talk of playing Aphelios as something that would require a lot of knowledge in knowing what your strengths are at every moment, depending on main and off weapons. But isn't that also true for your opponents? And it's even less clear to them because you can't see what his off hand is like the player can. If the different weapons are as "op in certain situations" as described, I can see some hesitation or frustration being caused by not knowing if he can swap to a weapon that will negate what you want to do against him. Probably less so for his lane opponents because they will presumably see both weapons and new ones when they come out. But still, I can definitely just hear a lot of people going "wait wtf, he can do that" for much longer than other champs. I'm buying him day one
There's really only one weapon that requires enemies to be aware and that's Gravitum, the big black hole looking weapon.
A huge art of Kindlejack's work was making sure everyone could tell which weapons Aphelios was wielding and to make the way he held them seem clear.

Moon puns? Seriously? Rito I am disappoint.
I'm a lunartic
As someone who has an unhealthy amount of hours playing Invoker on Dota, this is the first League champ that I’m super interested in. Very different than Invoker in terms of mechanics, but you are thinking about the same things in terms of strategy. Asking yourself the same questions.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying he isn’t that complex and he’s basically just auto attacking, and while Invoker has a little more going on mechanically, you are still on both characters thinking about CD timers, what ability needs to come next and how to get there, what combos do I have access to in this very moment, what combos should I prep for a fight, etc. the main difference is that Invoker has freedom of choice and Aphelios doesn’t.
The 2 biggest question marks I have are:
1) is there going to be a way to “dump ammo” quickly in order to get the weapons you need to set up a combo going into a teamfight?
2) if the W will be a true toggle or not.
The W is a true toggle. It has no Cool down. Sometimes when I'm just walking around and spam W because it looks so cool when he plays the weapon swapping animations (Which he can keep moving during)
Hi, here's my personal take as someone who LOVES the winter skins. Skins like Frozen Prince Mundo that have a slightly more "general" theme and quality chromas are among my favorites and something I use all year. Skins like Snow Faun Poppy are lovely too, but feel better to use during the holidays. I urge you guys to revisit the Snowdown skins and keep trying new things like you did last year!
Thanks again OakWheat. Really appreciate the specific feedback and thoughts around this thematic.
Thank you so much! Swain is one of my favorite champions and I happen to be at 8 gemstones right now!
:)
