I saw on Twitter that you guys were going to make another video with WIRED? Is it true?

Yep. We filmed a little while ago, when it comes out is up to them though :)

Quest skins don't have any links to eternals nor are they about being stat trackers, that at least I can clarify today.

Shes still falling high above niche, but her pattern looks almost identical to Yuumi/Neeko so we still think she will settle into a successful niche playrate overtime, though its too early to tell. Here's a link to here current B/D with comparisons to Yuumi/Neeko.

She is overall most popular in NA, which is funny since a lot of the perception she was "overshadowed" by Yone is in NA where she is the most popular as seen by this NA breakout graph

Hey hope you're holding up well.

I really like posts that detail the methodology that leads to certain decision making. That been said, is the LoL team still adhering to the design philosophy (counter-play, mastery, meaningful choices, team-play, clarity, and evolution) set by Morello in 2014 when it comes to the holistic point of view of potential changes to the game?

Also are you guys contempt with the amount of snowball in the game? It feels like the line between early, mid, and late game scaling is getting increasingly blurred due to the forced fast paced nature of the game. Can't Wildrift fill that void for a player-base that is looking for a quick SR game?

Cheers.

Those design pillars are still pretty accurate yeah, though if we were publishing them again nowadays we'd likely call out a few more things like game to game variance and gameplay/thematic cohesion.

We think the amount of snowball in game is in a fairly good post at present, though understand that there are a range of opinions on that. While Wild Rift will have shorter games than LoL PC we're certainly not trying to push people to play a particular game based purely on how long a session they want. Difference in platform alone is a massive deciding point for many players for example. Some really want to play on mobile, some never want to do so. Some people will split their time between the two, some don't even own a computer etc.

We don't see champion power as an appropriate lever to use to try and influence champion popularity (depth, breadth). Some champions, Illaoi being a good example, have deep but niche appeal. Most players aren't interested in playing them, those that do love them. Adding power will increase play rate but not because the champion concept resonates with people more but because people just like winning. We'd rather try and have everything as balanced as we can manage so that people can play what appeals to them. Buffs/nerfs work off our balance framework as a result instead.

Maybe they are similar to Odyssey Ziggs which was obtainable by completing Odyssey quests during the event.

We'll talk more about how quest skins function in the moderate future, not quite ready to yet, though we do need to start testing the tech. Can share that it's not about how you acquire the skin though.

Correct. Spotify doesn’t touch dynamics, just overall Volume. Same goes for YouTube.

It's almost impossible to tell between a FLAC and 320 kbps mp3. I know these debates often go sideways with "get better headphones", but to consistently tell the difference, you need exceptional ears and potentially years of experience.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just want to point out, that while the difference in bitrate is huge, the perceivable difference in sound quality is usually negligible.

EDIT: Since I'm being disputed about this, I will post some papers that back up my claim.
paper 1
paper 2

These two articles actually demonstrate that even trained proffesionals go 50/50 in listening tests when comparing even 256 kbps MP3s to lossless formats.

You are correct.

A big part of mp3 compression mechanism is 'frequency masking'. I'm not aware of any studies on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people were more easily able to pick up artifacts after this, than others. I'm not the one to say whether some kind of talent is needed or if some form of training is sufficient. Some people can just sit down and tell the difference instantly. Others struggle, but I wouldn't worry about it. The most important bit is if you actually enjoy the music.

We’ve done a ton of null tests and comparisons on all sorts of professional studio and cheap setups. Focals, genelecs, ATCs, Dynaudio, sennheiser headphones, Beyer Dynamic headphones, you name it.

Difference between properly encoded 320kbps mp3 and the master wav is so marginal and light, only at the veeery top of what’s audible for the human ear, that I really can’t say that it makes a noticeable difference when all you’re doing is listen.

YouTube audio compression certainly is slightly lower quality, but also just in the upper frequency range. There is no Changes in dynamics, or the mix. It’s the same song, with slightly more compressed super high frequencies, played at a lower volume due to the platforms’ different target loudness.

We're slowly rolling out changes to the way our penalty system interacts with players who AFK and Intentionally attempt to lose the game.

Some changes are already live that make it less forgiving for AFKers, including first time Afkers. But we're not done here by a long shot.

Will be keeping the community continually posted, monthly.

You want hard bots make sure you get Wild Rift when it comes out. Gragas will straight up clap you.

I'm curious, how does writing keys for such a talented artist go? Do you write a outline or have a strict sheet music that you intend the performer to stick right to? I feel like I would, if I knew I was writing for someone like Sherinian, write something that push his limits and he would come back to me and be like, "Yeah that lick at measure 59, my fingers just physically can't do that."

For the rhythm/harmony parts it was pretty much written as is. For the solos, it was wide open space for him. Frankly speaking, I didn't feel confident enough in my own abilities to write solo parts for someone like Derek Sherinian. :P Was really excited to see what he would do with the space in the song
