This is correct. It wasn't discounting for they styles already in your collection. It should be back next week, once we've fixed the issue

There is an issue we are actively investigating.

No. The cards from HA6 are only legal in Historic. If you only want Explorer stuff, you only need EA1.

What are the odds that there's a typo in the Announcement?

Additional Premier Drafts

  • July 22-28: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt
  • July 28-August 2: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt

Shouldn't the second one be Innistrad: Crimson Vow? Why would they list Midnight Hunt twice?

Second one there should be VOW, as you say. We'll get it corrected in the article.

Before rotation each year we refresh the 10 dual-color starter decks and ensure that all players have the cards needed to play them (so everyone always has decks they can play in the rotating formats). You're probably seeing the new cards added for that, and you can find those new decks in your Starter Decks folder.

See the "New Player Decks" section here for more info on that: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-digital/mtg-arena-renewal-rotation

As others here said, this is a bug and nothing intentional. We're working to get it fixed soon.

Thanks for the report! This was not an intentional change and we're looking into it.

Well, it's not called "Adventures in the Remembered Realms"... (We'll find it!)

As the reminder text reads:

To seek a card, put one at random from your library into your hand.

Correct. "Exiled with" is pretty strong evidence of a linked ability. #wotc_staff

I designed this card in my favorite weekly meeting, the Card Design Workshop. This is a sort of "club" that any WotC employee who is interested in MTG card design may attend to flex their creative muscles.

Each week we get a prompt for some design hole that needs new ideas. On August 13, 2021, the workshop got this prompt:

Card details: A blue rare enchantment, instant, or sorcery. Its name is “Signature Spells.” We’re looking for a top-down design of a Wizard ability in D&D. From the D&D manual: “You gain mastery over two powerful Spells and can cast them with little effort. Choose two 3rd-level Wizard Spells as your signature Spells.”

(Plus that the card is intended to be a digital design)

This was my original proposal, which ...

By the way I'm on vacation this week in Iceland so my responses may not be punctual.

I'm really not sure where YCLB came from. HBG is what the set is called in Arena, i.e. how you can search for it in the deck builder. #wotc_staff

I think Wizards calls it HBG.

And that stands for (Alchemy) Horizons Baldur's Gate. #wotc_staff

She only can't block if you Specialize her from the graveyard. She can Specialize without penalty from the battlefield as normal. #wotc_staff

The AFR reprints are exclusively common & uncommon. A 1v1 draft wants different staples than Commander draft.

This is interesting insight.

I assumed the number of players would directly correlate to how easy / difficult it is to get into a format.

A format like Historic being much harder to get into compared to Explorer for example. But I guess this is only relevant to new players. A tenured player would most likely already have the cards to play either.

Also when you are talking about "main formats" are you including Alchemy in this as well? Just curious ;)

Yes, that's among Standard/Historic/Alchemy/Explorer. These are the "major" supported constructed formats in the client.

No, this is looking at the primary constructed formats. Brawl and Historic Brawl games are divided out separately. We serve a lot of different types of players!
