We've changed the way we're determining this and, Urza willing, it will stay fixed from now on

Funnily enough, they also reordered the basic lands...but the opposite, to alphabetical from set order.

Which has also resulted in everyone's draft decks being Zendikar Rising lands instead of Baldur's Gate lands. Which is kind of funny but also hopefully something that will be fixed, because otherwise we'll probably never see the current set's lands being the default in draft decks again.

This is a bug that will be fixed soon

This is a bug that we will fix soon. There are some cards that can no longer be crafted, and those will no longer be required for set completion.

I had QA investigate this (just for your cakeday), but they found everything working as we would expect. Do you have more details around the precise situation?

That's a bug; we'll get it fixed (it shouldn't count those beta-gift PWs or similar cards you can no longer craft)

Huh, looks like we missed it in the release notes, but we did add this stop in today's update: "If the opponent controls a permanent that triggers whenever you draw a card AND that permanent entered the battlefield since your last turn, you get priority during your upkeep with an empty stack if you have any legal AND affordable actions."

Note that this will only put the stop automatically on the turn Sheoldred is played. After that it's up to you to put a stop on your upkeep if you want one.

A little trivia for you - that symbol in the center is Avacyn's Collar, the symbol of her church.

Wolves may hate collars, but this doggo is pretty okay with it.

We have taken steps to level the playing field.

Well, maybe not level. More like turn sideways.

But...this is just a regular Legitimate Businessperson. Why would someone use Witness Protection on a creature so innocuous? It doesn't seem worth it.

OHHH oh sorry, I get it. You only play Legitimate Businesspersons, so someone having a WP against you is basically a wasted card! Clever strategy, for sure.

I can officially say that we've made no such statement :)

That source also states the prize is an entry into the October Quals.

Clarification /u/wotc_cromulous?

This weekend's Open takes place in October, so it provides entry to the November QW (Opens always qualify for the next month's event). I'll see about the incorrect text.

It is not so much XP that you will be worried about missing it. It's more like just a checkbox for each deck. If you don't feel the play experience is worth the fee (and aren't skipping the fee by playing in the Open), I'd definitely recommend sticking to your usual play modes.

A little XP, but no currency or cards. It's an opportunity to kick back and jam mixed-up decks for the whole weekend, not really a grindable mode. (To be clear since some folks aren't sure: you only have to enter the Open or pay the Sealed entry fee one time. After that, you'll keep getting back a token that you can use to re-enter the event as often as you want.)

MIXED-UP PHANTOM SEALED EVENT OCTOBER 1–3

The April Fools thing is back...but for 750 gems / 5000 gold, and you can freely get new pools for the whole weekend.

Yay for Mixed-Up Sealed, but that system seems pretty bad compared to last time. Not only is it much more expensive but there is no incentive against constantly get new pools until you get something wild. Might make it pretty bomby.

October 28–November 5: Dominaria United Sealed

An encore? Possibly Alchemy Sealed, since the first mention of the Alchemy draft queue didn't mention it was Alchemy.

October 13–21: Planeshifted Draft: Streets of New Capenna

New Draft type! Maybe something semi-silly in the vein of the old Turbo and Omniscient Drafts?

October 28–November 5: Dominaria United Sealed

An encore? Possibly Alchemy Sealed, since the first mention of the Alchemy draft queue didn't mention it was Alchemy.

This will actually be original Dominaria. We'll correct the text.

The automatic upkeep stop should be out next week.

This is clearly a shot at me, so sure, I'll take the bait.

I try to be very clear about acknowledging when something is not behaving as desired. However, that doesn't always mean it is bugged - and while that distinction doesn't necessarily mean much to the experience players are having, it is a look behind the scenes (which players sometimes enjoy) at why that issue may not be as easy of a fix as players think (which players often do not enjoy, I admit).

I also try to be clear when an issue, even though it's not desired, may not be as high priority as other issues. The truth is that game development involves a lot of push and pull. That means some things aren't likely to be addressed or will be addressed later on. I certainly don't intend that to be condescending; it's just honest.

I can understand that it's not fun to hear that something you don't like won't change, or at least won't change for a while. Some people might still pr...

This is not something that we set directly; the system looks at the unique identifying number for each basic land card and takes the most recent one - specifically "most recently added to the database." Due to scheduling quirks, the HBG lands ended up being imported later than DMU, so they are still taking precedence.

It is certainly not our the desired behavior, but changing it would mean either changing the function itself (which isn't broken!), writing some kind of specific-case override (which is clunky and gross IMO), or modifying the card entries themselves (which could have any number of unexpected impacts on collections and decklists). Considering it is a purely cosmetic issue, it doesn't really rise to the level of warranting any of those actions. We'd rather keep pursuing a long-term solution to this issue.

That certainly doesn't sound right. The support team should be able to see those appearing on your account and make it up if you file a request. I'll keep an eye out for any similar reports to see if this is systemic.

The list of banned Historic cards in the article was just an error - we're removing it. The event uses the Alchemy card pool, and that will not change.
