Hey there, folks. Wanted to make a quick post to share some design theory behind the new spawn system as a whole, and try to allay some concerns about recent issues.

When i tracer cobalts IP i get a huge increase when it reaches 80.157.129.202. Other users in germany suggest it is because Deutsche Telekom has very bad peering. My Cobalt name is BlauesAuge

Edit: I once tried using a VPN from my University when i had realy bad ping. With the VPN my ping went down to ~80.

Here you go. Connery is in Las Vegas. Definitely worse than AMS in terms of overall latency, although Connery is the most diverse in terms of physical connection distances.

Both Miller and Cobalt are physically located in Amsterdam. Here is a chart I put together showing the average latency of all players into both worlds between 9 PM and 10 PM CEST tonight.

 

The chart shows that about 50% of the people had 50ms or better, and about 80% had 70 ms or better. Assuming you were at 130ms for that hour, you would be in the bottom 5% of all players. Definitely not good and not normal.

 

It could be a problem unique to your route into the datacenter, or there could be congestion in the datacenter itself (we had similar problems with Orange and Deutsche Telekom in the past). If you don't mind sharing one of your character names (via reply or PM), I can do a bit more digging to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

Now the construction spawn system is entirely gone and priority 2 no matter how close, then you can't spawn at a fight at all and then you can't even spawn one base back at all so you won't get camped to death.

I really really want this system to work, but comparing it to the old system, it's much better but extremely frustrating.

Construction is in limbo at the moment, but that should be worked out in the next update.

Yeah, kind of strange. It's possible they don't have visibility into that skill line since beacons are gifted by default. There are currently some quirks like that that exist, and they can only go by what they can see.

If the change to refund spawn beacons made it through, you wouldn't even see that Spawn Beacon cert line in the list. So the good news is that you didn't lose anything, the bad news is that that change didn't go Live in the last update like we intended.

Seems like a bug. Unless this is an old screenshot, (or possibly if you're in cutoff territory,) you should be able to spawn at either of those two Sunderers.

I received a basic cookie-cutter reply to my ticket, with all the usual "repair/reinstall/delete files" stuff.

This has persisted between different installations of Planetside 2 on different hard drives (my old one was a standard disc drive, and my current HD is an SSD), so I know for a fact that I don't have corrupted files.

The ticket response basically said I should create an issue on the bug tracker, which I did, but beyond that there was no additional help offered to help troubleshoot the issue directly.

Can you open a ticket with CS please and/or submit a /bug report? Our initial attempt to repro this bug failed. The issue seems to be specific to certain characters.

Was hoping to have that addressed for this update, but it looks like that didn't make it. When this is fixed, it should be a client-only update, so no down time necessary.

  • Biolab outposts are now all connected via lattice.
Dev Note: This change seemed to work well on Esamir, and with the new respawn mechanics we've decided to move this change to the remaining continents as well.
  • Biolab outposts now have generators stationed next to the teleporter. When overloaded, the teleporters, connected spawn room, and spawn room shield will be disabled.
Dev Note: The intent here is to offer some counterplay to the defenders, allowing them to inhibit spawns directly into the Biolab with some additional effort.

Edit - Thanks for the information. Good news is that this crash has only affected 9 people in the last week. Bad news is those 9 people are crashing ALL the time. Looks like it is a conflict between our in-game chat (Vivox) and something else running on those PCs. Hope to have more information for you when folks return from holiday tomorrow.
