Hi folks! We have a pretty small update with just a few changes and fixes to get 2023 started. This update should be compatible with all savegames and mods.

Big thanks to our community for submitting bugs and testing our updates over at the official RimWorld development Discord[discord.gg]. If you encounter any issues while playing, please share them with us on the Discord.

Changelog - Improved performance of apocriton's resurrection ability on maps with many mech corpses.
- Shuttles trying to land on a map that was despawned will fallback to using one of the player's home colonies instead.
- Xenotype name is locked when loading custom xenotypes from gene assembler.

- Moved "Person" translation key to Core.

We considered it! It would be bugged if we didn't do some tweaks to make this work cleanly, I think.

Rimworld does not save log files indefinitely, but every once in a while mods or game bugs out and log file keeps growing. Generally you don't need to worry about it.

The game has protection to prevent oversized log files. Mods have to circumvent the protection to produce logs this size.

Imagine an RPG dungeon was actually real. It would be unbelievably terrifying. People going into a dark unmapped tunnel network where they mostly get torn apart, poisoned, and burned to death by hideous creatures.

Every fantasy RPG is a horror game.

This is a problem with accepting the judgment of any group of experts. They have an inherent conflict of interest.

A thoughful outsider may have less detailed knowledge, but also may be more directly seeking the truth - and that can matter more.

This happens in fields where the experts don't produce results which are obviously objectively better or worse.

Academics, moralists, and fashion - not engineers or commercial media makers or pianists.

This issue arises with ethicists, art critics, sociologists about society, literature professors, food critics, psychologists, fashion experts, historians, and so on.

Experts often have more wrong ideas about their field than normal people.

It's because they need to justify their job, so they can't just give the obvious answers that everyone knows.

They need hard-to-understand ideas, and nothing is harder to understand than nonsense.

So apparently this is what someone at Valve thinks RimWorld is about...
