Hey,

I've just looked into this to see if I can find any cause of the issue - and as Sponge said before there have been no recent changes that we can see which would cause this effect. There does seem to be a misunderstanding in how the potion works so just to confirm the potion will aggro 1 mob every 3 seconds; it will not (and never has) aggro'd a whole area at once from what we can tell.

In both your videos above - you can see a new NPC being caught by the potion at each 3 second interval. The first is a bit more awkward to see as some NPCs are getting caught on the scenery, but the second video shows it clearly working as expected.

If you have any more info or could show it not working as mentioned above, please let us know so we can investigate more!

Hey so one of the other devs is looking into this right now. Would anyone happen to have a video of everything in the room aggroing at once (pre-supposed nerf?)

We're trying to figure out if there is something actually going on, or just some weird mandala effect. As an example we've found this video from 2-3 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuLDJeZS8vA at 0:33 the player pots up, and it seems to functionally appear the same as live - 1 thing aggro every 3 seconds.

One thing to stress - all the footage released around the First Look is very much work in progress. We've already done a lot since all of it was filmed/captured.

Love the detective work, just want to drop in a caveat that this is all very subject to change so don't go theory crafting too heavily for the release. Values and even Talents themselves could be different by the time you get to play.

This is kinda truth-adjacent but not really accurate as you've described it. You're inserting a conspiracy where none is needed - devs have visions for the future of the game and they pursue those visions where they can. They don't need to be working with a shadowy cabal of players to implement their vision.

Hm. It's interesting thinking about the decision making process here, because I think we have a situation something like:

Player A supports decision A. Player B supports decision B. We go with decision A, which is what player A wanted, therefore we "listened to player A". In practice it doesn't really work like this - we don't choose between two players based on some criteria and then just do whatever they say. We'll take input from many players, and then weigh that against all of the other relevant factors as well.

I wasn't heavily involved in the FSOA/AD changes but to apply that framework, balancing is very relevant to it. To oversimplify the argument slightly, if you say "do you want to be immortal?" then some players will say yes and some players will say no, but it's not just a case of listening to the players who say no and doing what they want. There are design and balancing considerations involved beyond pure preference.

We're happy to report the reboot is complete and the game worlds are coming back online!
As of 13:29 Game Time, players should be able to access game worlds again.
