Strictly speaking, the version bought on Steam is only meant to be playable via Steam.

By accident, more or less, the game and some of its content will show in our launcher in standalone mode. All you'd have to do is link your Steam and Paradox account... Read more

That is not generally necessary. Is this again for modded MP games?

gabriel373 said: When I go to download vcredist_ia64 this message appears. ''This setup program requires an IA64 platform. It cannot be installed on this platform''.
That is why I said to only "run the x86 and x64 installers". IA64 is for hardware you do not have.

Yes! And is this the Steam, gamepass or other edition of the game?

Are these mods from the Steam workshop, or mod site, both, or elsewhere?

Have they ever worked for you?

Does it affect every mod, no matter how little or big?

pdx_settings.txt is written by our launcher rather than the game. I don't know what could cause it to make the file but not populate it!

Right click on stellaris.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Is that any better?

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-EU4
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test with a new campaign - NOT any existing one

IF that doesn't help:

If that is possible, I'm pretty sure it would, yes - after all they work on your PC.

I don't think we're going to be able to fix this one, I'm sorry. For a start the Steam Deck is not supported hardware for this game, and as (I now see!) it runs Windows games under Linux via Proton, I'm not surprised there are problems.

I know nothing about mods here, but I'll check your hardware and game settings.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

I frankly don't know what could cause that; if it were all save attempts it might be an antivirus app getting in the way for instance.

This is only autosaves, not manual ones?

Does it matter if they are local or cloud?

Has this always happened since you've had this game? Or it was okay up to some point?

Users with low post counts cannot include links in their posts. This is a forum anti-spam measure.

Anything else ought to be okay, just no links.

This forum software has a limit on file size, but I don't know offhand what that is.

If you compress that file will it attach then?

Very hard to see how to proceed them, really. It needs ALL of the mods you've chosen to be enabled to cause this? Omitting any one means it runs okay?

You cannot, I'm sorry to say - Microsoft do not provide any facility for us to distribute older or alternate game versions, unlike Steam.

Your only way to play that save would be to buy the game from Steam, OR use family Sharing to borrow that game from anyone you know who has it.

Sorry about that!

As you can see, numerous failed or In Progress Windows updates there, dating back 2 years! Whether they have anything to do with this problem I'm not sure. You could run the Windows Update utility and see if it finds anything to install; if so apply that and reboot.
Do you see anything like that in Speccy run on your other machine?

And does it also use Avast ? Make sure you disable realtime scanning of this game's Steam and C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\ folders.

I see GeForce Experience is still loaded in there - you did test with it unloaded, is that right?

And finally, see if you can unload \ASUS\AI Suite III and Nahimic for testing purposes, especially if they are on this second machine too.

Nixou said: Is the launcher Paradox' or Steam's handiwork?
The Steam-branded client/launcher is Steam's, when you hit PLAY there the Paradox-branded launcher that then starts is Paradox's.
