To prevent item flipping, market manipulation, monopolies, and prevent progressing just by sitting in town (in combination with Favor requirements); We want the main way to progress in Last Epoch to be getting out there and killing enemies.
Yes, Item Factions will be available in offline play - though as you mentioned joining Merchant’s Guild offline wouldn’t be very advantageous.
If we count them using specificity (each type of enemy killed that can trigger a prophecy): A lot, I don’t know the exact number off the top of my head. It’s also created in such a way we can continue to expand on prophecies in the future as well.
You spend Favor, not Reputation.
You’d need to farm the favor cost of listing each item.
Basically as you mentioned - The time required to play directly alongside another player to get a resonance would make this a sub-optimal route.
Hello Travelers, and welcome to our deep dive into our Trade and Item Faction systems arriving February 21st, 2024, with the Full Release of Last Epoch! We’ve got many exciting features to share with you today, so we’re providing a Table of Contents just below to help you navigate the post.
While we feel confident in what we are sharing with you today, these systems are being actively tested in our Community Testing program, and the details below are still subject to balance changes.

The save structures and systems for offline and online are completely different and so isn’t as simple as downloading a copy, it would need to read, translate, and re-write the data into the offline methods in order to work. This of course isn’t to say it’s an impossible task, but it would require a decent chunk of dedicated time to design and develop a system for it.
This isn’t something we’ve really discussed to my knowledge, so we don’t have a current stance on it. Like most anything - If there was enough demand for such a feature, it’s possible, but this of course competes with spending time on other features and content: so the demand would need to be high enough to warrant say, not adding a new crafting mechanic instead. But it certainly wouldn’t happen for 1.0 as we’ve already passed our content cutoff, so if the demand were to arise it wouldn’t be until some point after 1.0.
I also think it’s worth mentioning that this solves a problem in a way we’d rather not ...

“Steam” is a large number of services, for example their store is one service, while their auth servers are a different service. This means one service can be operational, while another is not. Each service also has a large number of servers behind it to support the volume they do, so services can also be “partially” down with some servers still operational, others not. In this case it appears to be an issue with authentication servers. Because it’s not on our end, I don’t have any more details concerning it unfortunately, we have basically the same access to Steam status information as everyone in the public does.
Last Epoch is currently down due to a Steam service outage. Services should resume as soon as Steam is back up and running. Apologies for the inconvenience.

To add some insight from our side of the topic: We don’t view mastery as a specialization like your skill selection. Instead, your Mastery is part of your class creation, it’s just not chosen when you first create your character to help ease players into systems, passive trees, and lower the learning curve. This is why we opt for masteries not to be able to be changed as once you pick your mastery: you’re not a Sentinel that’s mastered into Paladin, you are a Paladin.
I’m closing this thread as there’s already many in-depth threads and posts regarding this topic, and it’s clear the conversation in the thread is no longer relevant to the topic.
Thank you for the report! The team is currently investigating the Monolith Objectives issue as an urgent priority issue.
Update: 12/13/2023 04:24PM CT
Our team is currently hard at work to get a fix out for this issue with Ambush objectives.
As a temporary work around, If you notice you don’t have an echo objective in your quest list upon entering, you should be able to leave the echo, and re-enter it to generate a new objective.
Thank you for your patience, and we will have a hotfix out for this as quickly as we can.
