Hey everyone, thanks for the continued great suggestions. One piece of functionality I’m very excited to share with you all in 0.8.2 is the ability to pick up items without moving the virtual cursor over them. This is being changed to smart area detection and you’ll be able to cycle through items on the ground by pressing up or down on the d-pad. We’ve put plenty of testing and love in to this functionality which helps moment to moment gameplay quite a bit. I’ll continue to poke around for feedback on this after it’s released in the late May (082) patch.

I can see how that can be confusing. What I can do is have the team add a better ALT (more info) description underneath it to clarify.

That's an interesting idea for sure. I'll bring this up with the dev team in our next meeting. Thanks for the suggestion

Hey all, yes sorry that this happens sometimes! It’s on our radar and while we don’t have a silver bullet for it yet this upcoming patch we are increasing the pickup range which should help in a lot of cases. @justoutoftime I’m sorry - this image literally pains my soul haha. We’ll fix it!

This is correct. Thank you, Muso!

Essentially the game is not server authoritative yet and someone has discovered that they can cheat/exploit this and are exposing it. We have a few social systems like the ladder that we have to monitor a bit more closely for this reason for the mean time. Multiplayer release will come with most logic existing on the server instead of the client and change the majority of what that post is referring to - and should alleviate their concerns. Sarno removed their post because it’s against our ToS to cheat and having more people obtain info on how to do this just causes more manual work for us before these systems are brought to server authority.

I can see how that person would be concerned if none of this was changing for multiplayer, but it is. The way we’ve developed it will allow us to support offline single player as well in the long run.

Hey Morbo, very happy to hear Last Epoch is making the genre more appealing to you!

We’re aware that the inability to do this is not ideal and it’s in our log of things to tackle. We have some good stuff coming for Druid in a couple patches and hopefully we can improve this functionality with that release.

That's a damn shame.

Kind of on the topic of social stuff though, do you guys have any concrete plans on guilds and guild functionality? I mean, just a guild chat would be amazing (and might alleviate the problems in global chats somewhat).

Concrete plans for them, not at the moment. If it’s a common request after multiplayer is launched or we come up with a cool guild system idea I wouldn’t rule it out though

Not bad, sir! Not bad at all :)

We're working on it! I know we say this at a high level quite often which isn't always the most satisfying answer. Our main goals this last week were to make scene transitioning, which requires spinning up additional remote servers, more optimal. This basically boils down to... "load faster!!". We've brought in some very talented engineers over the last year that are ensuring we're in good standing on the technical side of things.

As far as when... all we can say is when it's ready. I can promise that we're working very diligently with many engineers on it. Thanks for your patience - we're very excited to get it right and bring it to everyone.

We have some great controller improvements coming in 0.8.3 actually! One being the proximity based item pickups which is feeling very nice. I'm particularly excited about this because I play with a controller 90% of the time due to some pretty intense RSI myself.

Gamepad didn't get much love the last couple patches because our main developer that was working on those features moved into multiplayer development tasks which took priority. We've since then moved another developer into those tasks and we're picking them back up again. Good stuff on its way!

The in game reports needs to happen soon! Thanks!

When we catch people doing things that are blatantly trying to harm the game experience for others at this magnitude they are being game banned. Fortunately, the vast majority of players have been fostering good community discussion. Those outliers are putting a major fire under us to ensure this is shored up as quickly as possible and until then we're rotating the dev team to monitor chat. Thanks for bearing with us

Yea, I agree that our dialogue window needs a little refresh. A lot of work being done with UI this patch and up to 1.0

At the moment, no. We’ll be expanding the loot filter’s functionality over time though! We have a decent list of improvements, bug fixes, and additions we’d like to make in the next few patches. Targeting crafting materials is on that list.

Thanks for the kind word @Krilox. You’re very right, it has been quite the journey! We’ve been very fortunate to find passionate team members that have enabled us to keep up the intense iteration of the studio and game. It’s humbling to look back only a few years ago when we were just a few die-hard ARPG fans working on creating Last Epoch after hours while holding other jobs to expanding the team many times over. It’s a constant “change the tires as you’re driving the car” scenario but we have an amazingly driven and excited team full of folks that want it that makes it possible.

The way I’ve found most of the people I’ve brought into the company were from finding vocal ARPG players that I thought had great opinions, insight and personalities so it’s very much in our company DNA to want...
