Why is there such a difference ? I think if you keep to the way that the skins that we earn from agent contracts are made, you'll have far more consistent skins that more people will like. we'll definitely have a range of skins for sure - some will be more elaborate and have materials that vary because of the fantasy that the skinline is trying to sell, and some will be a bit more muted. it comes down to preference and what we've seen for a while now is that what one person thinks is trash, another person loves - so we have to work within the boundaries of the style we have while still appealing to multiple groups. definitely a challenge and one that the team is up to. ultimately we want to make sure above all else that our quality bar is cohesive and we'll strive to make sure we maintain that as we continue to add new content.

I like the Prism line purely because of the nuanced blue and purple mix as that's one of my favorites in general for anything, but I have to say that right now, apart from the agent weapon skins which look fantastic, there's not a single skin I'd buy from the shop.

The reason for that is because skins look plastic-y to me. Like toys, not weapons. I don't know if it's the lightning that contributes to that so much, but the art and texture of all skins looks awful. Default weapon looks are fine-ish, although some, like the Vandal do suffer from the same although to a much lesser degree.

Please consider doing some tweaks to have a more cleaned up look and not so much shining angles on the weapons. The agent skins are fine because they look like a skin out of CS. No lightning on every corner, no ...

yep we're definitely taking a look at buddies. We're doing our best to limit clipping as much as possible by making rules that buddies have to abide by - overall dimensions, where they're positioned, etc.

in regard to the guns feeling plastic-like, we're actively working on making this better. we've actually taken a sweep at all of the base guns to get their materials and textures reading a bit better and its actually uncovered a lot of issues with the way we were working and the rules we were following before, so going forward we'll be able to have a bit more dialed in materials that feel more representative of what they should actually be while still fitting within the stylized world

If I were to give a full rundown, then:

Classic - Ferret, because it's small and doesn't make much impact at all. Sometimes even cute!

Shorty - Bull, to imitate the two nostrils exhaling sharply that we all know of. If you don't like being in front of a bull to know what that exhale feels like, then you also don't want the same thing with a shorty!

Stinger - Bees. Lots of beeeeees. Mostly because the pun with the name.

Phantom - Fox. Swift and silent, but still pretty deadly.

Vandal - Wolf. Loud, powerful, isn't afraid to get in your face to take a bite out of it.

Ares - Cheetah. This one can be the big purring feline one. Also, quite deadly because of its speed (of rounds shot).

Odin - Elephant. Loud and chonky. And just like an elephant, you don't want to see one running in your direction.

Operator - Eagle. Both have greatly enhanced sight, and both are very fast and very lethal. And just like an eagle's cry, everyo...

Animation for that needs some work, but I doubt it'll be too much of a problem. It's 2020 after all.

That is, if you intend to make gun buddies a buyable thing in the future along with skins, you shouldn't make visual compromises like that when you want us to buy because of the visuals in the first place.

This is something we're in the process of fixing! Lots of buddy clipping issues right now. :/

As for the Odin... Probably a big feline, like a cheetah or clouded leopard. When the Odin shoots, it reminds me of a cat's purr.

Edit: Operator would be an eagle because their eyesight is comparable to the double scope we have on the gun.

I was thinking the Odin is like a rhino. Or some really loud animal. I swear it makes my ears ring when I'm spectating someone who's unloading it.

Animal themed skins are amazing, and have no limits. You can have a wolf Vandal, a fox Phantom, a ferret Classic, etc. Basically matching characteristics of each weapon with an animal stereotype.

Apex Legend had a similar problem with headache, that was due to movement shake.

I can talk with some folks about it, yeah. As I understand it it's a competitive advantage question- do we allow a setting that helps alleviate the 'headache' problem if that setting is a must for competitive play? I'm sure there's more to it than that, but that's my simple understanding of the problem in adding that setting for now

Edit: Don't worry about shooting stuff my way that's not out of my domain- my domain is rather broad (most of the underlying game tech is done by my team, stuff like movement, HUD, UI, Hitreg, Wall Pen, etc etc). If it's something I don't have knowledge about I can direct you to the right folks to talk to
