Wow what a post! Bravo!

Post

Heroes,

Season 1 of Winds of Magic is steaming ahead (partially due to Saltzpyre), and while there is still some time before the next season, we wanted to introduce the changes, updates and additions coming with Season 2 and update 2.1.

Season 2 will bring several things to both Vermintide and Winds of Magic. But before we dig into the changes we wanted to thank you once more for your feedback, we have heard you loud and clear. We designed these changes with the feedback from the forums, Reddit, Discord and social media together with the in-game telemetry from the last month in mind.

We are committed to improving the game and during the past weeks we have pushed many smaller patches to address the most common issues, thank you for your patience!

Season 1 is going to end with Geheimnisnacht event to line up with Halloween, and Season 2 will start before the end of the year.

We will have some news very soon on our plans for weaves going forward, thanks for the patience on the near radio silence we have had a lot to do!

Personally, I don’t leaderboard, but enjoyed seeing my friends compete on them (so support them in some way, as I don’t see friendly competition as something that inherently breaks Verm), but I have concerns about sustainability long-term past season one when the newness of “yay, we did it!” wears off (can almost promise they’ll be super empty for console port, where our playerbase is but a fraction of PC’s). This hits the nail on the head on why. Well said.

For me, my problem with weaves (the only higher one I tried was around 92), is the feeling of them being mini-FoW-esque. Learn strat, die, restart if something goes wrong, go at it for another large...

Are you using Avira Anti-Virus? I ask as it’s been known to interfere with the workings of the cores in that sense.

What is your ‘Worker Thread’ count currently set to?

Our developers are looking in to this. Unfortunately, I’m not able to provide an ETA as to when this will be resolved, as we still need to identify what exactly is causing it to occur. Apologies for the inconvenience.

We’re still working on this, apologies for the inconvenience.

Please, make sure you’ve attempted the workaround. If you’ve had no success with this previously, see step 8.

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2
  4. Open the user_settings.config document in Notepad or similar editor
  5. Search for (CTRL + F): render_settings
  6. Underneath that, create a new entry with the line: gui_bloom = false
  7. Save your changes
  8. If this does not work, please check to see if there is already a gui_bloom entry set to true, and change it to false

I’d recommend that you reach out to Virgin Media and explain your issues, as this seems to be isolated to the ISP.

My money would be on overheating. The logs sadly don’t tell us much because the PC shuts down and the game cannot complete the logs. Usually just giving the fans and coolers a bit of a clean, and re-seating a CPU with fresh thermal paste is a good start (and pretty cheap (also worth doing somewhat regularly))

Not sure how V1 works, does it create Console logs and Crash reports? If so, could you post them? It might help the Devs find the issues. If it’s anything like V2, the logs can be found here,

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Fatshark

Then click on the Vermintide 1 folder and upload the console log that corresponds with the date and time of the session it happened in. You might be able to find a crash report as well.

I’m by no means an expert, but have you tried trouble shooting the most obvious issues? Are your drivers up to date and not corrupted? Are you overclocking your CPU? Are any of your parts overheating? My wife got a brand new PC with very high end parts. Kept randomly crashing, she was overheating. She just assumed, this is good stuff, it should be able to run anything. Well, yea, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get hot… Are you using something like MSI afterburner to monitor GPU and CPU heat? Especially if you don’t have the FPS capped at all, you ...

Sorry about this @ShivaX, I will chase this up for you on Tuesday.

Which ISP are you with, @HappyPepeTheFrog?

There appears to be a pattern emerging in which customers of the ISP Virgin have been experiencing connectivity issues in Vermintide 2.

Based on the information within the logs, it appears your GPU is essentially disconnecting during play. Please perform a clean re-installation of your GPU drivers using the instructions here.

If the re-installation of your GPU drivers does not improve the situation, consider checking if one of your components is overheating. More information on how to do this can be seen ...

Yep, I see, we’ve addressed this particular crash internally. It’ll be resolved in an upcoming patch.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Try switching to DirectX 11 within the launcher’s ‘Settings’ menu and see if there’s any improvement.

It would be super if you could upload the console log that corresponds with this session. Your console logs can be located using the instructions below, and the timestamps within the log names should help you identify which one is needed.

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2\console_logs
