I could kind of understand them not receiving an afk on remakes for that reasoning. Or will there be a cushion for people to try loading back before remake triggers?

It's not just if you fail to load into the game, you need to be disconnected for some amount of time. If you reconnect for long enough before the remake window closes you should not get a remake. However if you cross our threshold for being considered AFK a remake will be available for your team even if you have reconnected.

Hopefully duo/trio partners of an AFKing individual won't receive compensation. Otherwise, a partner might AFK to protect a friend's rank.

Above a certain rank, party members won't receive compensation (just like League PC). It's pretty high right now, but we could lower it if we see abuse.

edit: for remake specifically. The AFK compensation outside remake is tuned so it's not beneficial for one person to AFK to protect someone's rank (they lose more than their teammate gains).

on the topic of AFK please look into being detected as AFK while playing Yuumi. I played with an active Yuumi today that got a leaver penalty

Do you want to DM me your playername#tag and rough date, time, timezone, and region? You're probably already done with your leaver penalty, but we are looking at adjusting Yuumi settings because of false AFK detection and are trying to figure out the root cause. We already made some changes when for Yuumi specifically when she shipped, and we want to tune them to eliminate as many false positives.

Finally remake system

Let me set expectations here. This is based on the PC system, and because of how quick games are in WR you can only rely on it to happen when someone is AFK from the start of the game (i.e. disconnect at the loading screen).

No match making fix is disappointing but it seems like things are getting better.

Match making fixes aren't generally part of "patches". The team is continually making improvements behind the scenes. The matchmaker does not rely on patches to your phones in order to make improvements so they can do them at any time, unlike changes to the actual game which need to be downloaded onto your phones.

Some how i dont think the remake system will be as impactful as we hope if its the same as PC since it wont give give loss protection from a afker after the first 3 minutes

This is correct, remake is meant to address a very specific case to prevent abuse. You should really only rely on it to work when a player is AFK from the first moment (i.e. they crash on loading screen). This is so players can't AFK to evade an unfavorable start to the game.

The intent is to use the AFK compensation system Maddy was talking about to penalize players who we detect AFK at any point in the game and provide compensation to their teammates. Note this initial version has conservative compensation because we're concerned about the potential for abuse (trying to force someone to AFK in a losing game). We're open to feedback on this once you all start playing with it.

I just wanted to clarify something, if I lock the dragon (via dragging the attack button) in the pit and I use an AOE skill that hits an enemy, does the system recognize that as 'change target' causing my supposed smite for the DR target the champion hit by my AOE skill?

Because it feels like it, tbh.

Hope my question made sense.

No, if you lock the dragon by dragging attack so it has the yellow highlight (not orange) it should smite the dragon. Casting an AOE that hits an enemy is not supposed to change that.

It's not a secret we've been working on it. However, nothing is final on release dates until we publish the patch notes. The feature is complicated and requires a lot of testing (and dev time) because of all the progression systems it touches at the end of a game.

Woah do you work for riot? I didn’t realize riot employees were on here.

Yes, on the subreddit Riot employees get approved by the mods to have the red fist logo flairs. I don't post that often, but lots of us review posts on the subreddit.

Yes, likely a bot had briefly taken over for you. First when we detect a disconnect we walk you back under your tower to keep you safe. Then after a brief delay we return you to base. A bot starts taking over after until you return.

Some clarification on why this is happening: When you aim quickly (i.e. time from button down to button up is very short) the system strongly prefers champions. We do this so that in fights you can more confidently target champions and not pick up other objects like minions or blastcones. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve this for your use case?

For blastcones, as others have pointed out you can use the minion/tower button (I think the tower button changes to a plant). For dragon/baron, your smite will autotarget the objective if it is low enough for you to kill it with smite. That's a little tricky, we considered making it always target objectives in range, but we want ran into problems where you were fighting around an objective and wanted to kill someone with smite and instead it would smite a high health/full health objective.

Not a complete fluke, but hopefully very, very rare.

No I was playing blitzcrank.

Can you DM me your playername, region (NA, EU, SEA, etc.), rough time/timezone for that game? We spent a lot of time tuning to reduce false positives, but we knew some were going to slip through the cracks when we turned it on for tons of players. Help us improve the system!

They're working on it as of 2 months ago. It seems like currently they are tuning a system to more accurately detect afk and troll activity before they start to implement more severe punishments. It's a fine line to walk though. If someone has a baby that wakes up in the other room and they need to leave the game, should they be banned for the rest of the day? If it happens again the next day, should they be banned for a whole week? It's a mobile game, and sometimes life happens.

Conversely, I was playing Yuumi yesterday and my ADC scored an ace. Because I didn't need to actively poke or switch to other players, the most effective thing to do was stick to my ADC and heal for the attack speed bonus. 30 seconds later I got a warning about being afk, so I started spamming my q while the ADC shot at turrets. 60 seconds later I was informed that I would receive punishment for being afk...

Yoooooo can you DM me your info (playername#NA1 or similar)? Also roughly what time/timezone you played that game. We are concerned about false positives on Yuumi and are going to hotfix some adjustments.

If fortification, or at least a reduced amount for afk, is not the answer then the offending player needs a heavier toll for leaving. A cumulative effect of validated reports, more in game prompts outlining the offense as it happens etc.

I’m not going to pretend to know why or how riot manipulates game matchmaking but it’s obvious it’s at play. Some effort needs to be made to address this flaw. At a minimum there needs to be some relief for those that understand you cannot win every match and don’t become a anchor 1 minute or 10 minutes into a match.

Yes, we agree that our penalties are not meaningful enough for AFKs. Especially in ranked. No specific timeline, but this is something we are looking to improve.

We tell you in the chat box when we detect that someone has genuinely disconnected (i.e. game has lost connection to them). However depending on what has happened we may not always know that for sure and there is a delay before we notify you so we don't spam you when someone is intermittently disconnecting.

In most games we actually do a silent bot takeover so you don't have to ask for it. Generally we've seen it's better for your winrate to have a bot vs being 4v5. This only happens after you've gotten that disconnect message above. It's possible there are cases where there is a disconnect here and a bot should have taken over and is not? Lemme raise some visibility on that internally.

However, we have a separate system that looks for "non-participation". Unfortunately in these cases we can't let a bot take over. Think someone running around the fountain doing nothing or being connected and just sitting idle. The player is still "there" so we it doesn't make sense...
