In order to purchase new ships you need:

XP

Credits

XP (Experience) is used to "Research" new parts of the ship, or research the next ship in the line. Higher tier ships tend to be more powerful then the current ship you are playing.

Credits are the money you use to buy something you've researched. You might buy a new Hull or Gun. You could buy a new ship.

I agree that reporting people just for playing a ship in the game is a problem. It's not very kind.

Hello, @crazyrom!

Thanks for bringing this up! It had not even occurred to me that the camo could either be stretched or applied the the entire hull.

I will discuss the matter with the Art Department folks and see about asking the winning user whether they prefer a waterline or a full-hull situation for their camo design.

We plan to bring back the improved Cherry Blossom, Hermes and The Ultimate Frontier, and are also considering bringing back the themed Operation Terror of the Deep as part of the Halloween event.

I would recommend the US Line. It has a very general play-pattern that works for most situations, and the HE Ammo for Rockets and Bombs is the most new-player-friendly option.

This video is a little old (the rockets have since changed a bit), but it goes over how the Tier 4 Langley works.

This is still something that is being worked on, so I don't have any specifics like that to share. This is more of an announcement of how we're looking to make Operations compatible with more Tiers then just the ones they were initially designed for to improve playability and ship selection~

At this time, we're announced Tier 6 through Tier 8 Compatibility. The last bit is very important, so I'll put it below~

We will wait for the old operations to be released on the main server, and then we will collect statistics and player feedback on all of the upcoming changes to determine the fate of this battle type. If operations are popular with players, there's a good chance we'll go back to creating new ones.

If people enjoy them as much as we hope, then we can see about getting even more love thrown their way <3

There's a Q&A going on over on our Discord server https://discord.gg/wows where the first batch of Answers have been delivered for our Maps and Game Modes Q&A! I won't spoil all the fun, but a pretty nifty piece of information got dropped~

For those squinting at the picture...

This year we will return the previously withdrawn Operations to the game. We plan not only to return them, but also to make them — and the ones currently available — playable for different ship tiers (at first, it will be Tier VI-VIII ships). At the same time, bot ships will not change, but they will get specific bonuses to their characteristics depending on the setup of the player team. If it goes well, in the future we will expand operations to higher ship tiers. For now, the feature is still in development, so unfortunately we cannot reveal all the details, but we will definitely share new in...

@8bit_3raser

We have a "Smart Aim" system that assists in terms of reticle placement when you've Locked On to a ship.

You'll know you are Locked On if you see this:

The Crosshair look says you are aiming at that ship.

-

Your aim was elevated above the waterline so the shells went past the aimed-at-ship. Your Reticle Placement would commonly be used for putting shells into the superstructure of the Henry were it sailing in front of the Conde (in your example).

There are 5 Slots. The Perma-Econ Bonus is its own thing.

There are single slots for each of the other Resource Types which Expendable Bonuses can be used on,

APM is an issue for some as the average person pulls around 50 Actions per Minute. That is near your ask of 60-70.

The larger issue is the Multi-Tasking. This involves mentally remembering where multiple things are and keeping up with that. If a player has their Hull, a grouped set of Torp Planes, a grouped set of Bombers, and 2 Fighters then they need to "track" 5 things which are under their control. This is outside of also tracking the enemy planes, friendly ships, and enemy ships.

As for Multitasking:

https://health.clevelandclinic.org/science-clear-multitasking-doesnt-work/

It's not that people can't Multi-Task, but it not something that a large percentage of the population is actively good at. There are ways to make it work, but it's not a native talent to most.

Just poked around to see if that was something tracked in a Tableau, but it is not.

In general, it would be awkward to sort "Reports that were intended as Reports" and "Reports that were disapproval of ship type". Other than general volume, there wouldn't be a way to label one verses the other.

I like how you broke this down, honestly. I think it is very easy for new players to get overwhelmed with the size of the map and where to go and who to shoot. If we have a few simple choices from the outset that can really clear things up.

Greetings Captains,

Welcome to this week’s edition of the New Player Captain's Log! For those of you who aren't sure what this is or what it might do, feel free to check out the introductory post here.

Without further ado, let’s proceed with Week 17!

Accomplishments
There’s a lot of similar things to last few weeks, but nonetheless, here’s a list of personal milestones that I hit during the week:

1. Played the German and French BB lines in Tiers 5-6
2. Played the Italian Cruiser line at Tier 4

Focus Points of the Week
Same refrain from previous weeks: my focus points for this week are largely the same, as I still want to put a lot of time into my play in lower to mid tiers before I move on to tackling higher tier play:

1. Continued exploration of the French BB line and Italian Cruiser line
2. Development of strategy and skills in low to mid tiers.
3. Fo...

Yes!

When you put a skin or style on a ship like "Made of Steel", "Infernal", or "Bionic" - it will override the gun sounds to whatever the skin has. This is why the "Master of Waterworld" DD camos have the special sounds as well.

If you put a "Made of Steel" camo on the Incomparable or Shiki it will override the sweet 20-inch gun sounds. The same will happen for the GK's 420's if you put a skin or style on, but not an expendable camo.

Comment

I think I remember @Boggzytalking about some big gun sounds related to some Tier X battleship. I wonder if it was the GK? Might have been the Incomparable.

This means a great deal to me, thank you! Fully agree on the step-by-step process as well, and I am glad these logs are at least a minimally useful resource!

Hello, Diison! Nice to see you in the forums too!

Superships are credit-intensive by design. As we talked about in the waterline (https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/227), T10 was always intended to be the credit-intensive tier that you fueled by playing lower tiers, but the T10 became too profitable over time. Because of this, we decided to make Superships be weighted heavily by economics towards maintenance costs.

I encourage you to not think about "breaking even" in a supership credit-wise. The Supership is something to be worked towards the way that the Research Bureau ships require large amounts of gameplay and / or resources to earn - same with Supers but in a different way.

The "Unsporting Conduct" penalty will:

Turn you Pink for a # of Games

Potentially Force you to play Co-Op Games to "serve out a penalty"

Remove your Credit/XP Rewards

The thing being referred to is not Karma-based at all. The 0 Damage CV resulting in being Pink and not getting Rewards is due to dealing 0 Damage to any enemy ship with planes.

Reports will only lower Karma. They do not incur "Unsporting Conduct" penalties.

I understand that - but the same exact situation has been in this game previously through powerful Steel ships like FDR / Stalingrad / Bourgogne, or powerful Research Bureau ships like Ohio. Only people who have put many hours and lots of effort into the game are able to field those ships that do well in competitive depending on season / format.

Credits are a far more accessible resource than Steel or RB, so while I do see your point that the inclusion of Superships will cause a sort of "bottleneck" for this season, I respectfully feel that this won't be the kind of ceiling that people are making it out to be. The Clan Battle Season format of having 2x Superships has been known for weeks now and people have had ample time to save credits and work towards buying a Supership to have ready for their clan. When I joined a competitive clan in Jan.2020 I had 2x T10's available that didn't work for Clan Battles, so I worked hard and ground out a Moskva so that I would ...
