This has already been mentioned, but CC abilities will have diminishing returns. Balance passes and more finalized numbers will be a goal during testing. We look forward to parsing the feedback of the Mage's kit once players are able to play with the Mage during Alpha Two! :)

Abilities like the one shown last livestream, in which the ability animates the character to temporarily levitate, will likely not render the caster immune to ground-affect AoE, but this may be subject to further testing, iteration, and feedback <3

Make sure to drop your feedback on the Mage in the official thread!

The team is working hard on the Rogue archetype, and is excited to show it off as soon as it's ready! We haven't announced any dates for when we'll feature the Rogue on a livestream, so stay tuned to our socials for when the day... Read more

@Azherae The team isn't ready to give a definite and final answer for what augments will be available for the Mage archetype, but I hope some examples of some of the abilities shown on the April livestream helped give an idea of what is currently planned for the Mage's kit.

With that said, we really have enjoyed reading the augment theory-crafting here, and there are some very creative ideas!

Because of the nature of how customizable archetypes will be in Ashes of Creation, along with each archetype's kit, there will be plenty of reasons to play either Mage or Ranger. And you will have tools to make them either as similar, or as different as you can!

I'm interested to hear more about the different desires for class fantasy between Ranger and Mage. Even though they both have ranged abilities in their kits, their fantasies can be quite different, in my mind!

It's worth noting that many systems of Ashes of Creation, such as augments and classes, along with gear and many other things may change the way you play. This stream, as well as the last Cleric stream, showcased some updates, but not the complete picture of what a player will be able to do! ^_^

We would not implement a Scroll of Resurrection if it couldn't be balanced. Our design team has many years of experience and knowledge working on and playing MMORPGs, and will make sure to get it right!

We took a moment to explain this better during last Friday's livestream, after the pre-recorded segment. Here's a timestamp to that conversation.

Hope this information is helpful! 😎

It's certainly interesting to think about the future and how AI will be integrated into game development, where it hasn't been already.

I think we will see a day when some games, perhaps MMOs and especially possibly indie MMORPGs use AI to develop certain aspects like writing and quest design.

As for Ashes of Creation, we currently don't have plans to use tools like ChatGPT to fully write or develop, or procedurally-generate quests. Though, our team is always looking at new technologies that make sense to implement for Ashes of Creation <3

Been repeatedly told that the game is not for me and to get out, so just curious.

In Ashes of Creation, we have the Corruption system to discourage griefing in PvP.

The goals of the Corruption system is to both keep risk alive for players, and also limit and discourage the ability for players to grief others. If this doesn't seem to be the case during testing, we'll continue to refine the Corruption system until it is better at accomplishing these goals.

We spoke about our perspective on this during the October 2022 Development Update Livestream. Here's a timestamp to that conversation, if you want to learn more.

Firstly, I want to bring up the issue of cosmetic sales after the Kickstarter campaign. This has caused frustration among supporters who believed the game was already fully funded. The addition of FOMO-style sales may bring in extra revenue, but it is not a good look for a game that claims to be transparent and community-focused. It is important to remember that the community is the reason why the game is even in development, and they deserve to be treated with respect and honesty.
To be absolutely clear here, Intrepid said they were going to have monthly cosmetic packs pre-launch right from just after the kickstarter. They said this well before they ever said the games development was fully funded. Intrepid maintaining monthly cosmetic packs is them keeping their word to those that joined early - they have a choice each month to purchase something that will not he made available again. Intrepid doing as they hav...
