We just pushed an update to fix the issue of mods disabling. Please make sure the mods your city needs are enabled, then restart the game and check they're still enabled before loading your city.

If you use mods please check your mods against the list of broken mods, both the first tab and especially the tab named Patch 1.16.1.
https://pdxint.at/BrokenModCS

If that doesn't help or you don't use mods, please make a thread on our support forum. We need to see your output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux) to be able to help, which cannot be attached here on Steam.

Originally posted by Simuscape: Haven't tested my game today, but when I tried yesterday I ran in to the now infamous "loop" as many others. But I also noticed that all my assets were left ontouched, (i.e not gone or disabled), but with one exception; ALL assets were enabled - even those I've had disabled from before the patch update).

The advice given about resub mods one or two at a time and at the same time backing up the userGameStat-file will, as far as I understand, hopefully add all mods back to the game. But in the end, doesn't the userGameStat-file contain my specific settings for my game saves, so even though I manage to resub to all mods again, my settings are gone? And I will have to go through the long list of assets an...

Yes.
If you haven't already, then you will need to check your mods against the list of known broken mods. Some mods are still needing an update and some have been replaced by newer ones.

I recommend you check both the first tab and the tab named Patch 1.16.1. Unsubscribe broken... Read more

Unique building relocks themselves too, so this is thrown into the loop of trying to load my current city properly, which I have not managed once since the update.
We're aware of the issue with mods resetting and currently investigating it. When we have an update I will let you know, but for now I recommend enabling mods in small batches, backing up the userGameState file, and restarting the game between each batch. If the userGameState file is suddenly 0KB then it's been corrupted and should be replaced with your... Read more

For everyone:
I'm super strict about replies here. If you want to provide feedback on our support of the game, you are welcome to start a thread on that, but I will remove those kinds of comments here to keep this thread focused on helping people who have issues with their mods. Please stay on topic in here, thank you! :)

Most of Keallu's mods were updated yesterday.

I moved a copy of my save game to my desktop so I wouldn't lose the 180+ hours of work I've put into it. Now that I have redownloaded the game, I can't get the save file back to the appropriate file location. It's almost as if it doesn't exist anymore. I am beyond frustrated with this. Who do I talk to about a full refund? What a colossal waste of time this has been....

Refunds are handled by the store you bought the game from. With 180+ hours in the game I'm afraid you're probably not eligible for a refund most (if not all) places. Instead, I recom... Read more

Try verifying game files through Steam, that should hopefully force an update.

We're seeing reports of this happening but having trouble reproducing the issue reliably enough to investigate it properly. But I just wanted to let you know we are trying to get to the bottom of this.

Mods being deactivated or showing as 0/0 mods is a result of the userGameState.cgs being corrupted and deleted so a new one is created. Restarting the game after it initially happens should let you reactivate your mods. I recommend you back up your userGameState.cgs before shutting down the game (the corruption either happens once the game is shut down or when it's starting). That way you can replace the userGameState.cgs if it gets corrupted again.

The userGameState.cgs can be found here:

Modding a game that's still supported and receiving updates comes with the risk of things breaking. This is why there's a warning the first time you enable mods. While I understand you are frustrated, please remain constructive. Steam's community guidelines still apply even if you wish we did not support the game still.

Mods break when there is an update because the code they reference changes. Sometimes this is because we fix a bug, sometimes we add a new feature, and sometimes due to optimizations. While I understand that not everyone sees the value in these updates, they are part of our support for the game. And for players who do not mod the game, these are highly requested.

We work with our modding community providing early access to modders so they are able to prepare updates, but these aren't instantly available. The modders need to manually update their mods, and as modding is a hobby they are often at work/school, asleep, or have other real-life commitments when a patch goes live - and as our modders come from all over the world this is always the case no matter what time of day we patch the game. Please be patient as they get a chance to update mods.

Reverting game updates is not something we offer for Cities: Skylines as it wouldn't solve anything, it would just push... Read more

Please make a report on our support forum so we can investigate the issue. It would also be very helpful for us to know what your FPS is when the economy panel is closed. We expect to see a drop in FPS when the economy panel is open as the game is calculating a lot of statistics while the panel is open, so knowing what your regular FPS is would be very helpful.

The issue should be resolved now. You will likely need to restart your game and it should download an update. Please let me know if they show up correctly now or if they're still missing.

We've seen a significant improvement following the changes in this patch, you should absolutely see more of a difference than 1 FPS in the unmodded game. We will need to see your output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux) to investigate this, and as these can't be posted on Steam, please make a report on our support forum here:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forums/support-bug-reports.879/

Depending on your operating system the log can be found here:
Windows
\SteamApps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt
\CitiesSkylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt

Mac OS X
~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Colossal Order/Cities: Skylines/Player.log
