The launcher will periodically remove unneeded files. If you want you can trigger this behavior yourself from the Tools/Cache section of the settings window in the launcher.

Patched files do not require there to be patchnote...

There will be an unscheduled extended downtime as we investigate issues with starting Tranquility (server).

We will update this thread and status.eveonline.com with details as they become available.

Update 11:21 - Tranquility briefly became available to players but we are taking it offline again to make some hardware changes. It should become available again shortly.

Update 11:37 - Tranquility is back online and open to players. Apologies for this unscheduled downtime.

More info - TQ failed to automatically shut down and restart due to some of the server nodes being stuck. We manually shut down the nodes which failed to shut down automatically. When we started up TQ we saw some nodes ...

Despite playing EVE for nearly 20 years, I never wondered this myself!

CCP Convict and I went asking around the CCP offices and found our answer from the one and only CCP Hellmar. The name “Tranquility” comes from the Sea of Tranquility on the moon - otherwise known as the first location visited by humanity on another celestial.

Thanks for the great question!

Hey there! Happy to weigh in and provide some additional clarity as to why this type of change was made, compared to others (such as tracking nerfs, or various spool nerfs).

Entropic Disintegrators are a unique weapon type in EVE - a weapon that progressively does more damage as it’s able to apply - and the designers strove to maintain that uniqueness. An issue we identified when examining data from various weapon systems is that that these ships were very often not spooling on targets. Their exceptional tracking, combined with the platforms of the ships, allowed them to kill targets well before their s...

Due to the size and activity of the EVE Online Discord, they encourage certain Verfication Levels to reduce unwanted spam, DM abuse, and phishing attempts. While we may revisit this in the future, we’re very satisfied with lack of unwanted spam in the EVE Discord.

For users who do not wish to verify with a phone number, Discord Support may be able to assist in achieving Discord Verification through other means.

I’d also like to add that this is information controlled solely by Discord itself, and cannot be accessed by the EVE Online Discord Server, moderators, nor any CCP staff. For more information about how Discord utilizes user information, you can refer to the Discord Privacy Policy: ...

We have deployed an update which should resolve this issue. Players will need to close their clients and restart the launcher. That will prompt the launcher to download the update.

After today’s update we are seeing an increase in client crashes. Most likely this is associated with shadow quality. If you have encountered these crashes since downtime, we recommend setting the “Shadow Quality” to disabled. This setting can be found by pressing Esc to access the in-game menu, under Display & Graphics.

Edit: If players loose any ships due to this issue, they should contact support to discuss the possibility of a reimbursement.

Thanks for the reports everyone. We’re going to try getting an internal reproduction on this with the latest Windows updates.
There is something unusual happening here, as we’ve not changed the code behind the mouse cursor tracking for a long time.

If you are experiencing the problem, can you file a bug report when it happens from within the client by pressing F12. It would be very useful if you would paste this thread URL in and mention me.

Thank you
