Its something we really want to add, along with a balance of all the energy / power systems. We are planning to do something early next year after data decentralization.

There is in option in the config of the server as to how long the game runs when no-one is connected. I believe we default it to 3 minutes, then the server switches to lobby mode, and the next time you connect you will have to load up the session. While the server is in lobby mode the game isn't running so no events or anything will be happenning.

Dedicated servers are in active development, over on discord we have some channels set up with how to access the tool, the wiki on how to host and steam branch required for you to connect.

We are looking at adjusting this soon, so that a mission-recipe unlock on one character unlocks for all.

We are planning to expand the Open World Quests with larger objectives, they will come and take a little time.

This week we’re introducing two new Open World Mission types, new Fortifications to deploy and a new mission.

BUILD and DRONE Open World Mission types have been added, and a range of bugs have been fixed to improve the other available missions.

Wooden Fortifications now give you a true defence system to protect your base or assets in missions or Open World, removing the need for makeshift solutions that players have used before.

And finally, a mission to tasking you to perform research on enhancing tonics and their effectiveness has been added, with your briefing below.
Next week, we’ll be celebrating Icarus' one year anniversary and 52 straight weeks of updates. This is something we’re incredibly proud of and can’t wait to celebrate with you.

As noted above, we are looking at how to do respawning resources in open world. In our last steering group meeting we discussed doing this in multiple parts to ease development. Respawning ores is probably going to be more straightforward than respawning trees/bushes. We want to make sure we do it as best as we can, so we are studying the systems behind it and working out the best way to balance tech/performance/design/UX considerations before implementing.

Please do raise a steam support ticket relating to download and install issues. Many users have reported issues with steam download and verification of download speeds. We upload the files to steam, and they provision them via their content delivery servers. Unfortunately, we have no control over how this occurs. We do have many users report issues with how updates occur, including in our other product, which appears to have started just over a year ago when Valve made some changes to how downloads are applied.

By raising a support ticket with Steam, they might be able to diagnose the specific issues that are causing downloads to be a problem for some users, and it can be very frustrating with some having to resort to refunding the game. It also makes us extra cautious to apply hotfixes, which is challenging because sometimes we really need to get a fix out.

In our weekly update we some changes to fix the reload issues where buildings, deployables and deep ore viens would not reload. An unfortunate side-effect of this update meant some of the progression and missions in Styx could not be completed. We also have been experiencing a bug where clients would crash when completing open world missions.

Hotfixes are disruptive due to downloads
We do apologize for doing the hotfix, as we know it is disruptive with how the downloads work and some users experience long times where Steam has to verify the entire game. Unfortunately we really do need to get this change out, as it is badly impacting some players.

Fixes
  • Fixed SANDBOX, INFLUX & WETWORK missions which where blocked from completion due to them only checking for the pre-mesh swap actors.

Can you post some information about your game and setup? We've seen a lot of framerate improvement with the last couple of updates as a general rule, so would love to be able to pin down what specific circumstances are leading to people experiencing the opposite. Most important in order is probably hardware, map, part of the map you're experiencing the biggest issues on, hosting or not, number of players, game mode etc.
