Today is a very exciting day for Last Epoch as we are launching our always-online closed beta, where hundreds of players have already been invited. While there are still bugs, balance, and a few features to make progress on before releasing multiplayer (MP) to the wild, we are now keeping servers running for the beta program around the clock to get feedback and test our live services.

It doesn’t seem long ago that Last Epoch was just an after-hours passion project by a bunch of ARPG-obsessed Redditors. We've had to do a lot of learning and reconstructing along the way to bring this grandiose vision to fruition. Multiple iterations of online Multiplayer fell flat as we uncovered flaws or deficiencies in systems or services we had developed. With a much larger and more experienced team that we've amassed over the last couple of years, we are much more confident and thrilled with our progress.

My best guess would be, based on your ailment comment, that it's accounting for Time Rot DoT with the Void Penetration, rather than the hit of the weapon itself.

Oh it has a particularly difficult time with Warpath and dots created by Warpath. The Void Penetration is effectively a 40% more damage modifier for any void damage and if you have Time Rot, that can spike the damage of that dot really high. While we do have some updates for that coming down the pipe, for now you'll just have to hit a dummy to test it out.

The stat "increased companion critical strike chance" isn't displayed anywhere. The node specifically grants companion critical strike chance and not minion critical strike chance. The stat "increased minion critical strike chance" is listed but doesn't go up when you take the node because as you said in one of your comments, all companions are minions but not all minions are companions.

I have double checked and it does grant the crit chance to companions as the node states.

If you'd like more information on companions and minions, you can press G in game to open the game guide.

Edit: and I just realized that you might be actually referring to the fact that the increased companion critical strike chance isn't listed in the lower section of the node tooltip. I don't think this is the case but if it is, the tooltips are manually created so they could be wrong while the effect is still right. The lower sections are designed as a short hand quick reference of w...

Also just to clarify, the Sword shows a higher DPS compared to the Mace, so even with the overvalued Poison chance, the Mace is still shown as subpar.

Yea, I'm not sure why those specific items are different. I'm not sure which skill you're looking at and what the other stats on the sword are.

It is vastly overestimating the value of ailments. While poison chance might seem irrelevant, that's probably what is causing the numbers to spike. We have adjusted the formula and will continue to do so. It's a tricky thing to get right as each skill works so differently based on what nodes you have.

Just wanted to say thanks for making a great game. I’m excited to continue seeing where it goes. I’m about to hit my first level 100 character (third over all) and here’s to many more!

It's always such a fine line. I am definitely more professional when I've got an EHG tag, on an official platform and my real name on the account though.

Hey there! We are still actively processing applications and inviting members into the program. It may take a bit to get to your particular application, however we're going through them as quickly as we can.

We'll also be continuing to expand the program, so if you don't hear back right away, we'll still hang on to applications for future expansions and you may hear from us in regards to future waves.

Wow, weirdly playable?

Here is the missing piece of information that will be the "ohhhh" moment.

XP gains are capped at +5 levels. A level 86 character in a level 100 zone gains XP as though it was a level 91 zone.

For fastest leveling, pick the highest level zone that you can clear quickly up to 5 levels above your character level.

I can help with question 1 that seems to be stumping people.

Regardless of where you buy, website or Steam, you get the exact same stuff. If you buy it on Steam, you get all the extras that come in the website pack (and if you really want our inferior launcher, you can use that too). If you buy it on the website, you are prompted to connect a Steam account and when you do Last Epoch gets added to your inventory on Steam.

The only difference that I'm aware of pertains to reviews. If you buy it on our website, a Steam review doesn't count towards the positive/negative rating on Steam.

Also, I think that there is a bug with GFN at the moment where steam won't sync loot filters so that's a little annoying.

Hi there, we take this very seriously. I can't discuss chat moderation action publically but we have addressed the incident you are talking about.

Easier in game reporting is something that gets requested fairly regularly and is on our radar. No word on progress for that feature request yet though.

System auto deleted the post by accident, sorry. I’m not sure what happened, that’s a new one for me. If it persists, let us know.

I had a look through the files, and I think Vapourfire summed it up fairly well. Based on the heavily truncated player-prev.log, and completely missing player.log, alongside a login authorization failure issue strongly makes me think there’s an antivirus program which is preventing LE from communicating or writing to the PC. In addition to checking EventViewer, a couple of things I might recommend trying:

  • Check any anti-virus program to ensure LE isn’t being incorrectly tagged and isolated
  • Backup C:\Users[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch\ then remove the folder entirely. Then Launch LE with administrator privileges so it can try to re-create the folder. It’s possible there’s a corrupted settings or save file that it’s trying to read. Something may have changed with LE’s permissions to this folder. Note this folder also contains save file information, so it’s important to back it up first.

I’ve reached out to our technical ...
