EDIT: This is wrong, see below.

The core creates the shrapnel and the core passes along its stats. If you were to cast Volcanic Orb and then begin to channel an ability, the shrapnel would not get any additional stats from you. The inverse is also true, if your stats go down after casting Volcanic Orb, the shrapnel are not affected by those stat changes. You could take off all your gear and both the orb and the shrapnel would be unaffected.

In short, once the Volcanic Orb is created, it and the shrapnel it creates completely ignore any stat changes which happen to you.

EDIT: This is wrong, see below.

No, that’s what I mean, it’s applied to your character. I assumed it was talking about something like casting void converted volcanic orb and then channeling something to make that already cast volcanic orb get “while channeling” stats, which it wouldn’t.

I probably just misunderstood, carry on.

Edit: This is wrong, see below.

Also, if you release the skill and then start channeling after, the skill that’s already out doing stuff doesn’t get the channeling stat benefit because it has already been created. Only stuff that gets created while you are channeling gets the stats.

Hello Vonsouza!

If you equip an item which grants a skill point, it is granted so long as you wear the item. If you un-equip the item, you lose access to that skill point, and so it is removed from your skill tree. When this happens, the next time you open your skill tree, the node which had a point removed since you no longer have that point begins flashing red, and a message pops up in the top left telling you which node lost a point as well.

Re-equipping the item will grant the skill point again to be assigned.

As mentioned in the post, we are still planning on keeping an Offline Single Player option.

I would say there's a lot more to do than fleshing out the endgame before it feels 1.0-ready IMO. The animations, models, and combat feel all have a long way to go; it's still a pretty weightless game.

It wasn't detailed in our Combat Feel section of this post but there's a large emphasis on this internally at the moment. Reactive animations for hits/stuns, hit sounds, and hit flash are being worked on in addition to the better feeling death animations. The difference on enemies where these changes have been made really do feel like a night and day difference. So, we agree and we're actively working on it for release in the next patches.

There will be another post in the near future which will have information on how to apply for Alpha testing.

Then again, that does bring up a question: Is 0.9.0 (or 1.0) going to involve a wipe of current single-player stuff? I know we can't bring single-player stuff to multiplayer, but I am not sure if the upcoming "offline single player" mentioned is a completely new thing or not.

We are not planning for any sort of character wipes. Our plan is for your current offline characters to remain available offline.

It could potentially be a little later than 0.8.6 would have been, however we don’t yet have a date we’re ready to share for the 0.9.0 update. Keep an eye on future posts for the date!
