Currently targeting next patch 14.12! Added in some features and removed tech debt alongside it that should make it easier to adjust in the future.

We did release an update about 2.5 hours ago. You may still have a game open somewhere in the background (when u alt-f4 val it doesnt always close val for example). Rebooting your PC ought to make sure everything's right.

If you're still having the issue, try uninstalling via the Control Panel (not from the System Tray), then launch the game and install again that way.

I'd love to know if the initial reboot solves for you or not, if you're willing to come back and let me know. Hope this fixes for you.

Define "recently". It was within the past week, but not the past day or so. Anyhow, I'll DM you the details.

Thanks!

@RiotK3o , I'm still seeing people in pregame lobbies using tools to reveal the names of everyone in the lobby and grief people with their op.gg records. Are there any plans to catch people using unapproved 3rd party apps in champ select like that? Or still just in-client?

I imagine there's way more people using tools like that than just those who open their mouths in champ select.

We started actioning a lot of the tools that can do that with two week bans, starting this week. If you have some examples recently though of some players, DM me so I can see if there’s some ones we’re missing

This sounds like a fundamental disagreement (intentional or not, probably not.. edit. actually maybe? Based on below comments) between champ design goals and balance goals, which speaks to a larger problem that has been present for many many years in the LoL team

The designers created an untamable monster and now the balance team has to turn the dial waaay down to the point where most ppl don't enjoy playing the champ any more. How anyone did not see this coming during playtesting is beyond me.. and it's happened SO MANY TIMES

Now it's not a fun place for anyone to be, especially phreak for inheriting this hellscape

So framing it as a disagreement makes it sound like conflict, and while that happens every now and then (people are people), I don't think this is really about internal conflict, and will propose an alternate framing:

Your content strategy and your balance strategy must be in sync with each other.

As a dev team, you're creating all this content for a reason: you are creating moments, creating memories, inviting new players into the game, whatever the exact goals might be. For League of Legends, new champions are expected to make a mark on the ecosystem.

If League's balance strategy says that we're going to change and tune champions until they win the same number of games (it doesn't, but at times it hasn't been that far off from saying that), then I can guarantee you that no matter how well designed your next simple champion is, they're going to be forgotten 3 months later. If Naafiri and Sylas are winning the same percentage of games overall, Sylas...

Thankyou Farza. Maybe similar? I grew up on a rural isolated farm in Australia. I had an early passion to want to make video games and (record scratch) now the tech lead for League of Legends. I'd recommend following your passions, empathise and be inspired by the people who are different to you and always always be humbled by the amount of knowledge you do not have

Another thought on her value for being in the roster is that we mostly have trained our monster lover players to play jungle (you have next to no options beside the jungle). If you love monsters, you either learn to jungle or do not play.
We knew her pickrate won't be exceptionally high. I'm hesitant to make her a jungler (though that would def increase her pickrate) to really give players an option mid.
We also were never targeting higher MMR players. Thus, we are okay with her not having much play time from those players.
I do think there is an open topic of if we should buff her/ make that assassin experience sharper in the normal to lower MMR.
I don't think it is necessarily bad that her overall pickrate isn't high. I want the players that want to learn mid assassins and/or want to play monster champ mid to player her.
They should eventually graduate to other mid assassins or other monster champs.
I also do think there is a future that we would wan...

Hey are there any plans for increasing the bot roster and upgrading the ai for customs? Since they still use the old one

Custom games are currently soon.tm (like really soon). This will include adding all the current roster of Intermediate bots available in the new bot system (so more bots than what custom games currently offer).

Additional bots are coming thereafter, just on a slower timeline as we have been improving gameplay systems the bots use (Ex: Stopping early invade of jungle, improving pathing, etc.) and improving the New Player experience in Intro queue post-Vanguard (Ex: reducing the difficulty of intro bots to better suit new players, building core tech to allow for specific bots to have specific behavior expressions, etc.)

Our team also has increased ownership to that of the entire New Player Experience game systems so we are deeply learning and iterating on some ancient code in order to improve it as well. :)

My recommendation as someone who's thinking a lot about the new player experience is to play Co-Op vs. AI with a friend.

One of the challenging things about traditional Summoner's Rift gameplay is how bound the success of the lanes are. This means that you can be doing your best, fail (which is normal in all things when starting out), and significantly impact the other 4 people on your team. They obviously won't enjoy this, and might tell you so. That negative feedback loop makes trying new things extremely punishing.

Bots with a friend is more tolerant of mistakes, helps you try more things, and you can learn from a human being who can adapt their advice to your specific needs in a supportive way. I am assuming you have friends who are nice people. If you don't have any friends who are playing League DM me and I can do a game or two with you :)

Any game mode will work!

The first few weeks something like this comes out, we spend a lot of time watching and thinking and talking and planning.

We will share more when there’s something concrete to share, but I just wanted folks to know that everyone on the team is paying attention. We certainly want ARAM players to have a good time.

Comment

I don’t normally talk about features before we release them for lots of reasons, but this seems relatively harmless:

We have a ticket on a team right now to add a small lockout to a champion the first time it enters the bench (3s) so that it cannot get snapped up.

It’s not like in the deep backlog, it’s coming up in the next couple of sprints if I recall correctly. I will check on it on Monday.

Now watch me reallllly regret saying this if team has to jump on something more important and people be like Barack lied he always lies 😿

Don’t need replay file, just need to zero in on the specific game. If you DM me your game name, region, and around when the match occurred we can look you up and do the rest.

So what is the point of sending tickets? Does the customer support with clip attached isn't enough for you? Or you basically didn't care to look at them.

Looking for help through player support (PS) is a worthy use of your time!

What I am looking for is gameIDs so we can figure out specific behaviors and map them to game triggers (or see where they don’t map) to improve our systems.

We can get some of this from PS but not all! Ticket volume sometimes makes it hard to parse through.

That was a lot of inside baseball, but the gist is we are talking about improving some of these systems and the info helps. Team tells me it’s been surprisingly hard to find solid examples given the number of times people make the complaint of people skirting AFK detection.

OP or anyone else that has a game where a player displayed this behavior, please DM me with details. We'd very much like to see them.

Atleast use that for the cheater, give them a well deserved reaction

That was pitched too, but we didn't really want to spend time on cool animations that would only be seen by cheaters. Better to spend those calories on the players who aren't cheating.

Comment

Fun fact:

Early in development we had a concept art pitch where it would do the chains from urgots ult kill animation. We scrapped it for exactly this reason (it was too scary to play for people who weren't being caught cheating)

This is incredible work. It's slightly more impressive than knowing how to play Aphelios.
