Magic The Gathering: Arena Dev Tracker

Post

Because COVID-19 is keeping millions of people around the world indoors, we wanted to do a little something to help make social distancing a little more tolerable.

To that end, we are making changes to the Magic: The Gathering Arena event schedule beginning on Thursday, March 19 to give you more ways to play Magic from the comfort and safety of your home:

  • The Brawlers' Guildhall event for March will have no entry fee and will be available March 19–April 16.

  • Theros Beyond Death Ranked Draft will be available March 19–April 16 in addition to our regular bi-weekly rotating Ranked Draft event.

These changes are scheduled to go live on March 19 at approximately 8 a.m. PT.

Stay safe, wash your hands, and try to avoid becoming too stir-crazy as you’re cooped up in your house for the time being. We’re continuing to explore ways to make it easier for you to keep in contact with players from ...

One of the things that surprised me was how work-intensive they were, for something that the player base ended up taking for granted--does that match your experience too? I'm glad these exist but I hope it's not a huge pain.

Yes, a lot of these are a lot of work! For the rules engine, there's especially a lot of coordination problems for juggling data around, e.g. for adding novel cards to Momir events. Not to mention the challenges for our designers! #wotc_staff

I'll be around. :)

This is a somewhat delicate matchup. Both decks have nigh-unbeatable draws, and games can be quite precipitous. The difference between, say, playing an accelerant to help offset a land-light draw, versus losing it to a Drill Bit, can make the rest of the game look either pedestrian or impossible.

That said, this one did turn out kind of harsh. It's almost exactly 60/40 for Empty Throne, which is outside the range I consider "successful," even for an event that only requires one win. (For some background, the enchantments deck had a lot of trouble taking off during testing - too many hands that just petered out or folded to a little disruption. I spent multiple iterations boosting its resiliency and adding a little inevitability, but it seems I Went Too Far.)

Well, I installed that thing, it fixed my problem but now almost every game I play, it freezes my laptop and I gotta reboot my laptop. This is BS. Is there a way we can get reimbursement for the Mastery Pass? At least partial reimbursement? I do not want to continue playing this game because they are just stealing my money right now. Everything as been fine for the past months and then they decide to update the game and someone at this company can't do his job right and tons of players are having problems, none are being...

First off, zero need for insults. The issue you're having could be due to a ...

Oh so we get the art f we purchase the lair?
No. You have to pay for it.

You got an MTGA code for the card styles (these four arts) plus a Thalia card sleeve if you purchased that Secret Lair drop. So basically what you see in the image of the first post.

Thanks. While this did work for me, I finished all of the color challenges last night, after which a "Waiting for new quest.." "Earn a new deck tomorrow" marker appeared in the interface with a timer. However, as of tonight right now, the timer shows 0:00 and nothing has changed. I don't seem to be able to continue with those quests.

edit: should note that last night I unlocked the Gruul Clans deck.

edit2: do regular quests no longer work in bot match mode? I'm not making progress on my summon creatures quest at all by playing bot matches.

If you do not receive the next quest after 20 hours (restart to be sure), you should contact support. They should be able to get you back on track. We will be working to make sure this isn't happening to others.

Re: Quest progress in bot match. After the Color Challenges are finished, you need to play with other people to get quest progress. This was true in the previous New Player Experience as well, but we have expanded the modes that give quest progress to include direct challenge and historic play. The play queue will try to match you with other new players (and similar deck strengths), so that might be the best place to go next for quest progress.

Hopefully, that helps!

Hello! You are probably in this state because you did not complete all of the previous first-time player experience.

If you want to get back all of your previously unlocked modes without playing through any of the Color Challenge content, go to the Gear icon at the top right of the screen, click "Account", and then click the "Unlock Play Modes" button.

Let me know if that doesn't help!

You may have not finished the previous first-time player experience, so you were reset to the start of the Color Challenge.

To get back all of your previously unlocked modes (without playing through the Color Challenge content) go to the Gear icon at the top right of the screen, click "Account", and then click the "Unlock Play Modes" button.

Sorry I didn't catch this comment earlier. Let me know if you still have problems.

Great question! Not now, but hopefully some day. :slightly_frowning_face:

yeah...clearly there are a wide variety -- that's actually great. schedule -- that's what would be awesome.

If we put out a full schedule, it wouldn't be very Secret of us haha. I'll give that feedback to the team, though. We try to give folks a decent heads up (though it may not feel like it since they were close together this time).

Yep the drop comes with a code! The code redeems for a Thalia sleeve, and four card styles (one of each art).

this one is a "Meh". I would like a schedule of these. Starting to have "Secret Lair Fatigue"....

Each SL drop is supposed to speak to someone different. If this one doesn't speak to you, that's perfectly okay. We've got a lot of fun things planned and maybe one of those will be cool to you. :slightly_smiling_face:
