A Steam uninstall only removes files it puts there. If a mod put some files in there, they would remain.

First, check you don't have debug mode enabled as that changes the checksum.

If that's not the issue, Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings III/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/P... Read more

Can I see a screenshot of the launcher when you get the "can't find games" message please? I'm struggling to see how that would come up when run from Steam!

I thought you were going to have the known issue with latter Intel CPUs but i see that is not so.

Did you set the framerate cap I mentioned?
"setting_framerate_cap"={
version=0
value="off"
}
If not please do that.

What fps are you seeing in the game before it crashes?

Thario94 said: I know that, but when I install it on Steam and start the game there, the launcher opens and can't find the game
That sounds exactly as if you are running the launcher from Paradox Launcher.exe , not via Steam. You are not doing it from a desktop shortcut or anything like that?

Can we see a screenshot of it please?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , exceptions.log

That error shows you have a DirectX 9 problem.

Please go into these two folders:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
C:\Windows\System32\

Delete all files that fit the pattern d3dx9_??.dll in both those folders; usually about 20 in each. Then go here:

Thario94 said: Okay, I did all that now. The Launcher now says, there is no game installed.
You must have run the launcher from the desktop shortcut or Paradox launcher.exe, which is a standalone mode for users who do not want to run Steam. It does need a separate game installation if used that way, but this game is no longer supported on that platform.

You'll need to run it from the PLAY button in your Steam Library instead.

What happens if you run stelllariis.exe direct from file explorer, any Windows error show?

If not, Right-click on stellaris.exe, properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullscreen optimizations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply, and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select the fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60

If one of you are on the Steam edition and the other not, this is normal. The Steam user needs to opt into the "cross store MP" version in the launcher Game Settngs menu.

Try editing that settings.txt. as follows

refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no

vsync=no

AND make sure your AMD drivers AND Mesa are the latest available. Any better?

Yes, I missed that in your dxdiag - the model of CPU you have triggers this issue. Sorry!

I believe if you set the desired affinity for steam.exe , all processes run from it inherit that setting. That should not bother any game, 16 CPUs ... Read more

If none of those mods were enabled at ANY point in that campaign, please make a new thread in Bug Reports here and attach the save game file there , for QA to look into.

Sorry for that problem!

No other game in my library has any issues at all.
Please make your own new thread in future, as similar symptoms do not necessarily come from the same cause. Thanks.

Did you set the framerate cap? What fps do you see in the game itself?

Does it last longer at, say, speed 4?

Make a new WIndows user on this machine and log into it with that. In the startup settings disable everything you can and reboot. Do you still get these problems then?

I guess this is a game bug then! Please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the problem save there for QA to look into.

Then put that galaxy aside and try it as you see new game patches come out.

Sorry for that problem!

This is just in one particular campaign, or in all?

Either way, any mods in use there?
