Hi everyone, 

Just a reminder that the Shae Vizla test server will be taken down on April 18th at 10am CT (April 19th at 2am AEST). I did see some players wanting to complete grouped content together, so just as an FYI, we recommend logging in around 6pm CT / 9am AEST as that is a timeslot where we have seen peak activity.

Fact is, I'm still experiencing really shockingly poor FPS performance out of this title, and I'm just about resolved to end my subscription and walk away for the time being.
My machine is dramatically over the recommended specs, and it's really frustrating that despite a week of trying out dozens of troubleshooting strategies, nothing has improved the situation.

I'll log in again with the next major update to see if things have improved any, but this does leave a sour taste in my mouth.

I encourage you to reach out to support and supply some screenshots to them as it is not very clear what you are referring to. If you mean environments, there will only be two options, SWTOR and Public Test. Choosing the first would take you the list of live servers which should include: 

  • Satele Shan
  • Star Forge
  • Darth Malgus
  • Shae Vizla (APAC Test Server)
  • The Leviathan
  • Tulak Hord

Completion of a Flashpoint with a group or solo will count! Getting feedback on the performance of both scenarios will be welcome because we want to get as much data as possible on how everything in the game performs on this server.

Hi there, 

A couple notes from the team. The frame rate limiter defaults to 60, so you can try turning it up to the max of 200. Additionally, if you have multiple GPUs, we recommend checking to make sure you have it set to using the installed GPU as opposed to the power saving one. 

If you are having performance issues that are limited by rendering, the FPS will display green. If it's limited by the CPU, the FPS will display red. We would like to know what color you are seeing. Some things to test if it is a graphics issue:

  • Turn off AntiAliasing
  • Reduce shadow settings
  • Update your drivers

Ok, I bit the bullet & did a clean reinstall. Fleet floor is now working. Must have been a corrupted file.

The team is working on a possible fix for this which would enable the repair button for not just yourself but all players. They are working to have this done this week. Thanks for your patience.

We will not be at Celebration this year, however, I did want to provide an opportunity for players who are attending to get some Old Republic swag. Hi everyone, 

Utilizing this thread to keep you all informed with what's happening with the Shae Vizla APAC test server. We will be shutting off character copy/character transfers momentarily.  Players who want to continue to test the server will still be able to create new characters. I'll make updates here on when character copy will be available again.

It would be great if Bioware or someone could suggest how to force a file repair without needing to reinstall. It’s grayed out on the client screen. 

The ping is amazing at 5ms. All the Aussies playing on Korriban are hoping Bioware sets up a dedicated APAC server again. 

The team is investigating the issue. Will update when I know more.

Hi everyone, 

Sharing an update from the team. Yesterday, we were testing different scenarios surrounding compatibility mode and the empty servers list and graphics issue some players were seeing. For the empty servers issues, we have found that removing compatibility mode from both swtor.exe and launcher.exe will solve this specific problem. 

Location may vary, but you can normally find these files here:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\star wars - the old republic\launcher.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\star wars - the old republic\swtor\retailclient\swtor.exe
  • Right click on launcher.exe and swtor.exe
  • Select Properties
  • Go to the Compatibility tab
  • Uncheck

This is a bit of a two-parter. We are asking players who are impacted by seeing an empty server list or flickering textures to do the following: 

Set BOTH the launcher.exe and swtor.exe to the same combability mode used previously. We would like to see if 1) the server list populates and 2) if the flickering issues is resolved.

Location may vary, but you can normally find these files here:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\star wars - the old republic\launcher.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\star wars - the old republic\swtor\retailclient\swtor.exe
  • Right click on launcher.exe and swtor.exe
  • Select Properties
  • Go to the Compatibility tab

Thank you for sending in the reports. The team wanted to follow up with another test scenario. For anyone impacted by this issue, can you set BOTH the launcher.exe and swtor.exe to the same combability mode you used previously and report back if that fixes your issue? 

This would also be beneficial for players who see an empty server list as well. 

We are requesting impacted players to set the same combability mode on both executables and see if 1) the server list populates and 2) if the flickering issues is resolved. Location may vary, but you can normally find these files here:

I logged into the launcher and it started re-downloading 35 gigs.

When the download finished and I tried to log in, it gave me a C5 error and closed.

When I re-opened the launcher, it started downloading again.

No, it is not a re-download. It will be on the list of live servers when you log into the game. But it will be notated with TEST SERVER next to it. All the details are linked above in the OP. From the article:
