Whats up with world 83 if maintenance has been cancelled? :(
Asking the team now.
A quick heads up that the maintenance planned for today at 10am has now been cancelled. No 'Scaping interruptions this week!

External link →Read moreI can only speak for myself in saying I hope the negativity here doesn’t dissuade y’all from doing these Game Jams, because they often yield some of the best updates.
I think where the contention comes from, is that we’re told the staff are working on these passion projects, but then aren’t told what any of them are beyond a short byline of “yeah, we’ve all been working on some awesome ideas over the last week” with no indication of what these are or whether they’ll ever see the light of day.
Tl;dr the issue is a lack of transparency and clumsy communication, which has been a recurring problem for, well, a long time.
Yours and Hooli’s replies here are exactly the sort of updates on core topics the player base is looking for. Just a sentence as simple as confirming you’re looking into world crashes goes a long way to making players know that you’re actually looking into these problems/issues/questions.
Jagex could win itself some serious brownie point...
Thank you for the detailed and considered feedback too!
Thank you, this is the kind of communicating I wish we would have more often. I really appreciate it. I think if this is something that was added to the main post, a lot more people (including me) would have understood it better.
That's a great thought actually. We'll go away and think about how we bring more dev insights into our posts around stuff like this.
Could we get another gamejam newspost like the one last time? I know there's a lot of negativity in this thread but I honestly love seeing what the Jmods are up to, no matter how small.
Glad you liked that blog in October! Definitely going to discuss a repeat with the team.
We can't produce a look week of as we write This Week In RuneScape earlier in the week and projects are only shown off at the very end of the week. Even if we wrote it on Friday it'd be too late to get it in.
I do hope it’s not a late 2023/early 2024 release :( sounds like it will be. Either that or a botched rushed job.
Which I’d expect you guys will avoid….or I’d hope :/
I hope a lot and I’m tired of being beaten down.
I love this game and want to see it succeed. So here’s hoping the cope isn’t to strong.
Necromancy is a 2023 skill release. We're not targeting 2024 in any way unless there's a major shift in our project timelines for any reason.
Why do you talk about Game Jam projects in the newspost? These aren't even guaranteed to come to the game at any point!
So when players on Reddit ask about past promises, that hurts Jmods' feelings. But when Jagex has nothing to put in the weekly update post, it's suddenly okay to tease a bunch of improvement ideas, putting pressure on those Jmods. Which one is it, Jagex? You can't have it both ways.
And if we talk about Game Jam projects as if they're promises of future content, I'd like to inquire about following:
New basic clothing from Mod Dragon and Mod Bakingaz
Arch-Glacor improvements from Mod Shogun
Combat UI improvements from Mod Ryan
Karamja graphical rework from Mod Alex
...and many more past Game Jam projects that did not see the light of day. Hmm?
It's context right? We have no Patch Notes, but it's for the reason of investing in the Game Jam for potential future content releases. We felt it was important to let you know why we have less updates for the sake of upcoming ones.
In terms of releases from Game Jam, that's a reality of most Game Jams you'll see out there. Some stuff will make it out fairly quickly, some stuff will come later (like our last Game Jam update earlier this month which contained some stuff from back in October) and some might be on ice until there's an opportunity - which can be anything from scope around other content production or a myriad of other things.
Edit: Stu posted something for context on what goes into bringing a Game Jam project to life from prototype to shipped if you want more insight on this. Find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/...
Read moreIf you’re going to release literally nothing just say literally nothing. There is no “light update” this week, there is just nothing at all. Even the TH promo isn’t new.
This Week In RuneScape is a weekly Newspost we do regardless of the size of the update (or in this case, with no Patch Notes).
It's more to give an update on anything happening in and around RuneScape that week as a whole - including Maintenance, Livestreams, Pink Skirts events, celebrating community content etc.
We sometimes break that rule a little to share certain news more broadly - like Murder At The Border which we dated in our last Email Newsletter and wanted to bring here too - but we think it's important we always have a one stop shop for what's going on (or not) in RuneScape every Monday vs just not posting.
Nice. Could’ve talked about something important. I’d love to know how the GE tax is doing and how much gold has been deleted.
There's an Economy Stream with Mod Jack on Wednesday where he can speak to that!
Any word on the next prime gaming drop?
Coming next week.
THIS!!!! If they didn't even have the f**king manpower to get ONE patch note in for this week, at least reveal some necromancy stuff so people are happy. But nooooope.
Mentioned this in another post, but to share it here -
We do plan to talk about it much earlier than we would for a standard content release, but don't expect any news on it this month. Necromancy development is moving along really well, but it's not at a stage where we're ready to start revealing aspects of it just yet.
“Stay tuned for more details on Murder On The Border next week.”
That means absolutely nothing next week in Runescape again! :)
There's a Ninja Strike focused on the Wilderness coming next Monday - definitely things to look forward to next week.
Can we have a update on these topics please
- Worlds crashing
- Q&A streams
- Master Max cape feedback
- Max cash progress
- Jagex launcher beta progress
- Inverted skillcapes
- FSW data
- Necromancy
- New addition to CM team
This week in runescape: literally NOTHING. yes, you heard that right.. NOTHING. Not even a single patch. Nope. Just nothing, because that's what multimillion dollar companies do when they promise "weekly updates".
It's a trade off of no updates for a week to gain complete focus on putting together really exciting projects for more meaningful future updates.
Game Jam took place for an entire week this time, and some really exciting stuff came out of it - some of which will manifest into the game like we've seen over the past year from these.
The benefit is that it enables a lot more significant QoL updates, new features or even much demanded things like graphical updates for the F2P areas last year to come to life.
While it might not be now (because we have to schedule this in a way that ensures there's time for polish and QA), the end result is better updates down the road. These will happen periodically over the year and often have a light/no Patch Week to follow in those instances too for that exact reason.
Yeah I just followed up again on it.
What's your RSN? I can pass it to the team as I'm sure they'll want to independently review as part of the investigation.
Had the same thing happen to me. Got the choice of Processor boxes and click the box for Protean Processors, gave me Dummy Processors instead. Just decided to use them, but it was weird and annoying since I was 100% sure I clicked on the right option, so seeing this post makes me feel better that the game wasn't trying to gaslight me.

I'm sorry to hear this. Could you also submit a bug report for us? The team are already investigating these reports and every one we get could help. Really appreciate your help in advance.
You can submit a bug here: https://support.runescape.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360001355429
Hey thanks for this info
Thank you for reporting this, especially after that similar report the other day we're already looking into.
The_Five-O is spot on with passing on the same steps, but I just wanted you to know the team have been passed this report directly as well so they can add it to the investigations.
Hello Hooli, thank you for your reply! I have now submitted an in-game bug report on the affected account (rsn: Uraby). If there is any further info I can provide, please let me know.
I also have a full 5 minute Shadowplay clip (including audio from the RS Guy video I was watching in the background) which the short clip posted above is snipped from. If that would be useful, let me know the best way to send that to you.
Thanks so much. I'll ask the time if it would be of use but getting the bug report in is the big thing. I'll get back to you if the team have any updates or needs outside the ticket.
