Probably? I'm guessing most of you HAVEN'T.

For yours truly? It was probably 2010 or 2011. hosted a 100mil-credit fight between a former-guildie and another player, in SWG. Bounty-Hunter vs. Jedi, for anyone who didn't play SWG/hasn't tried SWG:Legends, in present-time.

Probably the most-satisfying PvP match yours truly EVER saw, in any game. Do you guys/gals think we'll get to see anything - en masse - in AoC, to compare?

Am really hoping Arena matches will be public-purvue, in our game. I mean, I doubt it.... But it's possible, if enough of us want it....

What do most of you think, for the ability to watch OTHER PEOPLES' PvP matches?





What made it so satisfying??? I must know! Share more! Haha

After reading the OP, I think Ashes of Creation is certainly an MMORPG on track to be one of your liking :)

We'd love to have the character creator available before Alpha Two! The team is hard at work on it. We'll have more updates to share in the future, as we get closer to A2's Q3 release <3

I wonder if for Example "Empyreans" will have a cool Lore-Empire ingame they can represent as Players if they so choose. Also kinda hoping for it. It would add spice to the Game's Flavor if People could choose to join Race/Culture-based Factions, instead of being just a huge bunch of wandering Hobos who just happen to settle somewhere and build a City. :D
I don't see why we wouldn't have this option at any point, it's not so hard, but at the same time, if Ashes is deep enough, you could effectively 'create it' without them doing anything. It really comes down to how much we want it to influence NPCs.
I believe Steven hopes for many player-driven initiatives, such as the one (I believe, to the best of my knowledge) you're discussing. Content Suggestion: - Put the final boss at the end of an open-world dungeon in an instanced arena. - Look at making 3+ of these boss arenas for release. - Have the number available to the server based on node setup. - Fight lengths will be long (10-15+ mins), have multiple stages/waves and possibly separate rooms to change up the arena. - Content needs to take time to learn and complete. Nothing you can walk into and master in a couple of days. - Look to current games that are focused on PvE Raiding. - Only allow one party in the instance at a time. It's not required from a PvP aspect, see paragraph above, I do think it could help eliminate people zerging your fine-tuned mechanics. - Consider allowing only one instance at a time. This has a lot of implications. Especially around watching the door for PvE and PvP. Just something to consider. - Consider reduced death penalties in this "event". They have been pretty clear over what they intend to deliver. You can advocate and say "I want this. They should do this!" all you like. Won't change what you are going to get. And as mentioned in the quotes below, they are ok if you take your toys and go home. What we're creating is a PvX game; and what that means is our target audience is the PvX player; and that is our golden cohort. And so to a degree if a player is solely interested in the most elaborate raid boss mechanics within a controlled and curated setting that is instanced gameplay, Ashes might not be the game for them and that's okay. I've been loving SoD. I saw on the official WoW forums this same topic being discussed the other day.

Interestingly, I saw some conversations about server culture specifically regarding GDKP. Players were reporting vastly different behaviors depending on which SoD server you were on! I'm not sure I ever saw GDKP on the server I'm on when I was hunting for a guild. This is of course just an anecdote.

I found this interesting since perhaps the only real difference between servers in that game is players. The content itself is largely the same. In a game like Ashes of Creation, not only will the players and player culture vary, but the content too could vary.

We haven't announced any plans to give users the ability to turn their pre-order package cosmetics into Embers.

There will be other cosmetic items available for purchase in the future :) There will also be many different in-game items you can acquire! <3

I mean - I abhor player-driven economy.... probably at the bottom of my interests in an MMORPG... even below PvP. It's not a deal-breaker... but I try to avoid player-driven economy as much as possible.
Gamers are too greedy for my liking.



If not a player-driven economy, what type of economy do you prefer in your MMORPGs?
