A lot of servers rely on this for inactive who have been hogging resources or equipment so it can be cycled back in.
One server I was on the only miller quit and it was days before we could get another star. Thankfully, when his property defaulted over to the government they picked up the claims and all the equipment stayed.
I know it might not be intended, but it has been a very useful feature, especially if you aren't going to let admins access void storage. It will greatly limit the ability of a troll to screw a smaller server over.

It seems there is an issue when unclaiming via the map, which is going to be fixed.

Nope, void items belong to the account and can only be retrieved by the owner.
I have had issues with void before. Also they only remain in their for a limited time (From memory 24hrs but dont quote me on that one). No command i know of can retrieve the items.

Depending on how nice your admins are they can spawn items lost. Any time a player is ejected from residency anything they placed / owned is sent to void excluding building blocks.

There should not be any time limit.

Next time just remove the land claims and take the items, that always works for me. The function you triggered is really only there to stop people from sharing land space, allowing people to place items, then stealing those items, like if renting. But you own the land now, so just unclaim and take the unclaimed items.

That should not work, as when changing the land the residents should automatically be kicked. We'll investigate if that is possible and it will be fixed in case that works, but I wasn't able to reproduce in a quick test.

Yes, type /serverui in chat and tab out if hosted locally. Otherwise can also adjust in Difficulty.eco config file in /Steam/steamapps/common/Eco/Eco_Data/Server/Configs.

No, there is no way around that.

i understand that. but even usually with no linked storage there’s a “collect” option that just isn’t there

The collect option is for the owner of the crafting project, and it is to take things out, not to put things in.

Comment

That's not a bug, storage settings are per person, which is intended. Your friend needs to set the linked storages.

So the smallest preset is the minimum, okay!

We use different sizes down to 20x20 for quick technical test scenarios, but they're not supposed to work for playing. Nontheless some can be generated, but will have increasing issues, especially for the world wrap.

0,52 km² - 72x72 is the smallest we support.

It's always the same for me - I start a game with friends with our own server set to public but intended for us and if people join due to my community building hobby I had since at least 15 years I start to adjust the server to the population and build something out of it. If it goes off, I continue to do so and provide the server even if we are no longer playing, as I just like community building and providing a service of fun to others.

If it doesn't take off, but people play I will also keep it running, but just not be involved. This doesn't work super well for Eco, but on many other games.

I think you guys really do strike a good balance of how to admin the servers while still letting the players be in charge of things like economy and government. Not every run is successful, but that's largely up to the players of the server that round.

I meant that more as a general tip - the same also applies to concept servers like White Tiger that have some presetup stuff. It's only important that players know how stuff is run and what they can do and cannot. If they don't like what you do, they can decide to not use their time, which is respectful. It's creating the bad experiences when players notice something that they did not expect and feel like they wasted their time or got punished for something they couldn't have known, because the admin doesn't like it. If the admin doesn't like it, he should put it in the rules, then players doing it know what the consequences are and can once again freely decide if that server is for them. Just as players reading the rules get an impression of if things they don't like can happen there if players don't do something on their own or if admins will intervene and they hence can expect specific behaviour to not occur. (Like a good chunk of people likes to be able to do anything with prop...

No arbitrary intervention.

Only help with issues that players experience, fixing broken laws, getting that cart out of the deep ocean. All administrative actions based on written down rules in the ecopedia (or anywhere where players have a realistic chance to read them, no matter if they ultimately do) that need to specifiy what's going on. It's not really about the intervention itself, but the fact that players need to know when joining what's going on and what can happen. There is no reasonable beyond that, one server might have a lot of rules to facilitate a specific playstyle which gets interested players for that, another one might limit to action on griefers, getting players for that. Both are fine and reasonable, as long as players were able to be aware of what can happen and there is not suddenly the invention of a new rule or usage of the "this is my server, i decide what i want" trope.

No sudden rule changes and if so, not applicable to things that happene...

20 minutes by default, configurable via Civics.eco

Hard to answer, the honest answer is probably no - but simply due to us not being able to know what kind of singleplayer experience you prefer and people set vastly different config settings for their personal taste. No Collab for some people is too fast, for others still too slow. You will want to play around with the settings to find what you actually have fun with, but Eco does allow that, yes.

You need to place at least one object of a specific room type into the room and may at the same time not have objects of other room types or objects that are considered industrial. (Most work tables, except some kitchen tables) Ecopedia has a list on what objects are for what room.
