The game attempts to automatically select the server which you have the lowest ping for. There is no way to change this manually. If you find someone who is connecting to the SA servers, if they are your party leader, you will also join those servers with them

You can use resonance on traded items. It however does not remove the MG tag from those items so it would need to be used by someone who also has the required rank of MG.
Resonancing an item can’t be undone. It’s like a crafting material in a way, you can’t unshatter an item.

In the exact comparison of drops it's a math problem sure but there are number of factors that can qualify as incentives for one faction for the other.
As an example, many people don't like trading due to the time/effort put into the actual act of trading. By extension CoF players will usually have more overall drops per unit of time on top of the actual faction buffs, since they're actually killing stuff instead of trading.
We aim to reduce the friction of interacting with the trade system as much as possible. It behaves asynchronously so you don't need to wait for someone to respond or join your game or anything like that. You will also have access to very powerful in game search and sort functionality that will let you narrow down your options very quickly.
Hey there, just wanted to clear up a couple things. I think that calling MG non-SSF guild and CoF SSF guild are misleading, mostly because (and I’m sure you know this) SSF means Solo Self Found. Neither MG or CoF restrict your play to solo and neither restrict the items you use to self found only. We do have an optional Solo Challenge mode which is the same as SSF mode that you can do if you want to.
All items obtained by using your factions special bonuses (Bazaar for MG and drops for CoF) carry a rank requirement to equip, similar to a level requirement. This means that if a CoF player is giving items to a MG player, those items are limited to being used only while the player is representing the CoF. The MG player would need to switch over to CoF and gain some ranks before being able to use it. The items can’t be sold at the Bazaar.

People who have purchased Last Epoch can play patch 0.8.5f right now. Various patches have been full-availability for several years now.
On March 9th, patch 0.9 will go live and everyone who has purchased Last Epoch will have full-availability to multiplayer.

Sounds like you’ve got it all straight. In that scenario, the downside is just that you’ve got multiple gear sets to maintain.
Edit: oh and you’re split farming favor so you’re still just getting half benefit from each.
Oh yea, you can do that. It’s still just going to be better to stay as CoF. You can just use the CoF systems to farm those same affixes and call it a day.
