Hi Gzip, the design team is aware that Mage’s have fallen behind other classes, outside of some Spellblade builds, and will be addressing it in the upcoming patches.

We’ll continue to monitor feedback and suggestions on the Mage closely over the next few months.

The change from “increased freeze chance” to “freeze rate multiplier” was simply a renaming of the stat to try to avoid people assuming that it was a flat chance similar to stats like “ignite chance”. There was no change to what the stat actually does, so 560% freeze rate multiplier in 0.7.4 is just as good as 560% increased freeze chance was in 0.7.3.

In addition to this change many sources of freeze rate multiplier have been buffed, so overall freeze chance should be higher than in 0.7.3.

Currently a big issue with freeze is that the chance is based on the enemy’s maximum health and that scales up very sharply later in the game, so even if you’re getting lots of freeze rate multiplier you rarely freeze enemies later on. This is a problem that we’re planning to address with system changes in 0.7.5.

I like this suggestion, Danklebs. We have been waiting to rework this screen a bit for multiplayer where we’ll show your actual character model with its gear and other relevant info but I’ll see if we can go ahead and get some quick wins in there as mentioned.

Thanks for the feedback.

No worries, the transition isn’t 100% smooth. Thanks for the report!

We’ve followed up with you elsewhere, so I’m marking this thread as resolved.

If any other Mac users have this issue, please read this support article. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for the report! In the future, a screenshot makes these kinds of issues much easier to resolve. You can upload them to a site like imgur.com and post the link to the forum.

This is intended; you now select a Mastery Class by completing a quest in the End of Time, which starts after you talk to Gaspar. Because you started this character before 0.7.4 came out, you were likely past the point in the story where it’s normally given out, so you should go talk to him again.

Your character isn’t considered a Lich because you haven’t ascended yet, which is why you don’t have Reaper Form. If you look at your character sheet ( C ), it should say “Acolyte”.

Comment

Meteor is now unlocked by ascending to the Sorcerer Mastery class, which is done after completing the Mastery quest (or investing 25 points in previous versions).

If you picked a different mastery class before the patch, you unfortunately won’t be able to access the skill. If you haven’t picked a Mastery Class, the quest is started by talking to Gaspar in the End of Time.

Could you please change Master Quality to Medium?

This is a known issue, it only occurs in the Ulatri Cliffs (Imperial) and Welryn Outskirts and is specific to that type of tree. Thanks!

Hah, sorry!

I'd actually been encouraging someone on our Discord to wait for the patch before installing.

Mastery Class System

  • Your Mastery Class is now selected after completing a quest you receive when you first visit the End of Time.
    • Previously, you simply had the option to choose your Mastery Class after investing 25 points into its passives.
    • The quest allows this decision to be a more involved and satisfying process, and to occur at a fixed, earlier part of the campaign.
  • Choosing a Mastery Class now grants access to an exclusive skill and special passives.
    • Necromancer: Summon Wraith. +1 maximum Skeleton. +1 maximum Skeleton Mage. Your minions deal 50% increased damage.
    • Lich: Reaper Form. 1% of damage dealt is leeched as health. Spells and melee attacks deal increased damage equal to your percentage of missing health.
    • Sorcerer: Meteor. +50 mana. Spells deal increased damage equal to their mana cost.
    • Spellblade: Shatter Strike. 5 ward gained on melee hit. Mana spent on melee attacks is converted...

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I could have been more clear. I said that you would “have a way that you can build”. I didn’t mean to imply that this would be the only way to build. We want people to be able to pick any playstyle along the spectrum from quick switching all the way to very slow switching. If you want to be a bear and just a bear then that’s cool too. I think that is much easier and is closer to the final goal than the quick switching style.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

We’re currently performing a pass on the settings we offer in-game, so this is a fantastic time to have this on our radar. Unfortunately it is too late for us to devise a solution in time for our upcoming Patch 0.7.4, but I’ll discuss this with the team early next week.

We currently can’t due to a technical limitation-- we’ll be looking into it in the future.
