It's a weird dichotomy, but I'm mostly responding to clear up misinformation and answer peoples questions. As a result, you end up responding to people who are mad more than you respond to people who are just being nice.

It's really nice when I read comments from people excited about a system I'm working on though.

Axis starting points don't matter when you don't show units. You can make the graph shape look like whatever you want when you hide units.

In particular, hiding the Y-axis units is especially worrisome. That's almost always the crucial measurement you're trying to track in a normal line plot graph. Forgetting the Y-axis units is always a sign of dishonesty or ignorance.

Okay okay, the graph starts from 0 and is linearly scaled.

We're just trying not to disclose some business data (like total player games), not trying to reshape the graph. If we didn't have something that we were excited about to share we just wouldn't have written an article.

I appreciate the transparency and hope it works out as a net positive for every queue, the work you guys have been doing on reducing toxicity is definitely noticeable and I hope in the next few years the game will be dramatically less toxic for all players

Thanks! Means a lot to hear stuff like this :)

About time! The amount of people intentionaly ruining ranked games while loudly announcing they are doing so and laughing in everyone faces is unbearable. Hope there will be swift further punishments for people who will just throw their anger in other queues in order for those not to become an absolute swamp. Perhaps acompany the ranked restriction with like 24 hours complete ban to let the child calm down and not immediately ruin a normal game?

Ranked restrictions will only be an additional penalty, stacked on top of the penalties we give out today. It's not replacing the time bans we give out.

Yeah this happened for a brief time. We fixed it before the end of december if I recall correctly.

Yeah sure, the graph doesn't have its Y-axis labeled, but WOW! That line is going up very much!

Cant share the y-axis here, but I will say that it at least starts from 0 :P

These are the types of players who will get locked out of Ranked:

Meanwhile actual inters and win traders will be completely unaffected.

When we first released GATES it would mistakenly evaluate text in channels that wouldnt show up in the report card, which caused a lot of the silliest looking screenshots you see floating around. That's since been fixed so there should be fewer of them since 2023.

We still make mistakes of course, and we continue to improve it. As time goes on it should only get better.

Idk. I guess it means I just won't play aram or norms to chill, I'll just play a different game instead.

I promise the goal is to reduce overall negative player experience. We aren't trying to just shuffle it around between queues.

We'll be watching normal queues closely. If they start to be impacted, we'll pull the change.

It really irks me. I understand that player behavior is really hard to address effectively, but these stats don’t really mean anything. I mean, an unlabeled graph is truly mind blowing with how misleading it could be.

I can't tell you the exact numbers for the the y-axis, but I will assure you that it starts at 0. So you should be able to infer some trends/percentages from this graph.

he very clearly never played the game mode at all, and had the worst trash takes on everything

we are still suffering the results of his garbage decisionmaking

Long time no see.

On Jhin it is 1.5% above Stormrazor in the 1st slot and 1.5% above IE in the 2nd slot. So BiS.

Ashe BiS.

Aphelios, Kindred, Jinx and Cait as good as Stormrazor.

Yasuo/Yone, Nilah and Trynda already BiS.

So it is AT LEAST as good as Stormrazor actually if not better on live. You have it BiS on 4 melees and 2 ADCs and it will be BiS after Stormrazor is nerfed for at least 5 more.

And that is in gold+ and plat+. The item is an active item and actives tend to become better in higher elos and pro play. In Dia+ the item is BiS already for Aphelios and a few others.

With this nerf I am sure every crit ADC who doesn't want Navori will take Gale instead. Navori takes a totally different niche than IE and Gale, so it isn't battling these 2, which is why Xayah, Sivir and maybe 1-2 others still go Navori. But for everyone who might want to go IE, Gale alr...

On an individual level, 13.11 Gale is similar in power to 13.9 Gale but it now comes with an opportunity cost of no IE/QB, which wasn't true before. IE/QB are clearly very strong items.

I also don't mind doing a few sequential smaller changes than swinging wildly back and forth. The items aren't terribly far apart in average power level.

  • First Q @ 19s (Bounces correctly to blue-side minions)

  • Third Q @ 30s (Bounces correctly to blue-side minions)
  • Fourth Q + First AA @ 32s (Non-energized)
  • Fifth Q @ 42s (Bounces incorrectly to red-side minions)

Is that what you expect?

It matches my expectations of the bug. Was that not clear? I described the bug to you, you replied to my description that it didn't match your experience. You posted footage. I told you that the footage matches my description.

All the systems changes with crit items were meant to be fairly light touches. Galeforce is BiS on the wind bros but doesn't seem terribly over the line on others. It's going to be optimal on someone, otherwise it's just not a good item. I don't think Galeforce is super far off.

Even though personally I don't like that item on her because I beleive Kraken Slayer synergizes better with her kit. But in 13.11 even that won't be as easy anymore for a champion who really relies on getting her Q evolve as early as possible

I'm aware that Kai'Sa is pretty constrained on finding good evolve targets. The current plan is to take a close look for 13.12.

/u/PhreakRiot In case this helps:

I just went back and reviewed the game where the bug happened. The events went like this:

  • Renata R Hits majority of team, Ezreal dies while berserk.
  • Upon Respawning, Ezreal runs to bottom lane and pokes at wave using Q (Mystic Shot).
  • First Mystic Shot proc's Stattik shiv as normal
  • Second Mystic Shot is non-energized
  • Third Mystic Shot proc's Stattik Shiv as normal
  • Ezreal auto attacks a minion
  • Fourth Mystic Shot is non-energized
  • Fifth Mystic Shot hits enemy minion, Stattik Shiv bounces to allied minions.

What is odd is that it seemed to be only after I auto-attacked that the bug occurred, and not before. This is not what I expected based on your comment:

Triggering Energized via a special case on something that isn't a basic attack (e.g. Ezreal Q) makes it jump to allies because it was set up to...

Your first Q bounced to your own minion. At no point did you auto-attack to trigger Energize. Your experience perfectly matches my expectation.

LMAO.

To be clear, a lot of the stuff he's praising (e.g. earlier Homeguard) has nothing to do with me. Though I appreciate his support on the sections I wrote lol.

There used to be way fewer than nowaday! I think more and more people have become interested now to become observers and it's great to see :D

Well now I have so many questions... Is it a full time job? What do you do when there are no games? How did you become an official observer? Is there only one observer in a game? Or are there multiple observers and the director chooses which one to show?

I'll answer the best i can :D

  • It's full-time for me, but other regions might handle it differently!

  • I work 5 days a week, so when there's no show, i spend the time making replays and cinematics for "match of the week" content or similar!

  • I joined about 7 years ago as a freelance observer at EU LCS and gradually just got put on a proper Riot contract :)

  • We're 3 observers in LEC, one for live (me), one for live replays / base race / PiPs, and finally one for analyst desk replays and the cinematic brolls for end of day! We don't go through a director in LEC but instead have our own little box to jump between any kind of observer feature we have! (Base race, double lane, replays etc)

It is 100%! Of course, observing LEC is great and all! But since it's never guaranteed that we observe international events, it's a big milestone! I think this was my fourth MSI and I've done 4 worlds? But of those events, i've only done maybe 2 finals of each event.

It's something most observers strive to be part of one day ^
