Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods
- delete the folder Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mod/
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/mods_registry.json
- delete the file Documents/paradox/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

Sorry I missed this thread before, not sure how that happened.

Wen this happens can you run the game from stellaris.exe directly from Windows Explorer? or does it fail then too?

Sync Items syncs your Steam games to your Paradox account. It does not do the reverse.

Just paste your Steam Activation code (which we sent to your email, and is in your Paradox Games menu) into the +Add a Game area of the Steam client application, and the game will be available in your Steam Library in that Client to download and install. You can also do this directly on the Steam website
store.steampowered.com

Try having all players opt into the stellaris_test game version, now in the Steam betas tab for this game. That uses Paradox MP services instead of Steam's

Can you three play when no mods are involved? If so then there is a mod issue here, either you have different mods, different versions of mods, or even the mod load order can be an issue.

To test that all 3 of you enable one mod only - can you still play? then all enable another one - keep going until you find the problem mod.

I've seen that happen when the launcher gets stuck open, but not after the game itself has run okay. If you run stellaris.exe directly from Windows Explorer, then exit it, does this still happen?

What antivirus app do you use? Perhaps it is holding something open.

The game is getting Windows error e06d7363 in that dxdiag. It's not one I've seen before, until one other case a week or two ago, which I've not been able to solve yet, here's what I found on it:
The Windows 10 error ‘EXTERNAL EXCEPTION E06D7363’ occurs when a program tries to copy or move a locked file. It may be locked by Windows, your antivirus software or malware scanner, the error isn’t picky

That sounds like a Steam problem really.

As a test, Can you install th egame on a different computer and see if the problem happens there too?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Are you on Arch Linux, perhaps? If so this seems to be a universal problem that occurred just in the last week. My current theory is it was an Arch or Steam update that broke it.

It is being discussed over here, so you might join in the fun there!

Mikesrevenge said: Perhaps is their a way to install mods without having to use the launcher to run them or are mods strictly tied to the launcher?
1. Find the file "dlc_load.json", located in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/
2. Right click it and select Edit (this can be done in any text editor)
3. To enable mods, add them to the "enabled_mods" list

This is what your file should look like:

{
"disabled_dlcs":[],
"enabled_mods":["mod/ugc_1792575623.mod"]
}

You get those mod ugc_ filenames from the Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellar... Read more

You should never download individual DLLs from random websites, as they are often infected by malware. You should only install them with the proper Microsoft utility as I list above.

I removed some unacceptable text from your post. Please don't be insulting when you post, it doesn't help and won't get your problem fixed faster.

Mikesrevenge said: The idea of having a separate launcher after buying a game from a service like steam that already has all the functionality needed for mods and dlc
FYI there always was a launcher for this game that handled enabling/disabling mods, they were never handled by Steam. The only difference is now is the launcher is a separate app with its own dev team, so only one installation handles all the games instead of eac... Read more

Great! But do keep an eye on those temps, you don't want them to ever go over 80c.

Kliwarrior said: Where is the better place to post this bug? As I told you, its affects all your titles (and I don't want to spam the threads with something that is probably the same bug )
It would have to be handled by each dev team separately, so you'd post in the Bug Reports forum of each affected game.

It may turn out to be an engine issue, but the devs will determine that and direct the issue appropriately.

Good luck!

What was your machine doing when you ran that? Because the GPU temperature there is remarkably high, 79c. And the CPU is 73c. If those are idle temps they are WAy too high,m we'd more normally see in the 30s-50s at most. Unlikely to be the direct cause of your problem here, but it definitely needs to be looked into.

You have at least part of malwarebytes still running:
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\mbamtray.exe

And try unplugging that HUION tablet before running the game.

Good luck!

At this point I suspect there is something wrong deep in Windows, but it's beyond me to find it.

One last shot: please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here please.
