Yes, there are other reports of crashes while launching or playing. To my memory none had that Windows error c0000374 , so I still think yours is unique.

You are right to say it is not impossible there is a game bug that only manifests itself on your machine, but that would not be my go-to diagnosis; after all if that is the case it would be best posted in Bug Reports not here, AND QA and/or the developers would have to duplicate the issue to be able to fix it. Which seems pretty unlikely in the circumstances!

IOW your best hope of a fix is that it is NOT a game bug but some issue on your machine or Windows installation.
What if you make a new Window suser on this machine and log into it with that, and install the gam ethere - does the same thing happen?

And can you test on any other machine you might have access to?

I'm sorry but we do not offer a save game repair service!

You might try the good folks in User Mods, as they'd have experience with editing and parsing save games here.

To te bug though, is this a reported one in that forum? If not please make that report there and add that save file there, thanks!

Other ideas?

edit: I can run the game without the launcher or steam, but this is non-ideal as I would prefer to play with Steam friends.
Are you getting a Javascript error? Because the bug in the launcher that caused that in the MacOS version, ought to be fixed in the current launcher version.   ... Read more

Ah, that is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

stellaris.exe and dowser.exe (in the Steam Stellaris folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2023.1.1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that doesn't help, also set each of those .exe files (EXCEPT stellaris.exe !) to run as the Windows Admin user.

Then the game should run from Steam/our launcher, and enable all the DLCs.

Can you at least try it, as a test?

tulicreme said: Same issue.
Uninstalled the game, removed all %APPDATA% related content and user configs under "My Documents", reinstalled and same happens.

Exiting Steam does end up killing the process, but it's hardly a solution.
If you can exit Steam yours is a different problem than the OP's, as they have to hit the hardware reset button.

Please make your own thread, with full system details and problem history. Thanks.

Olexnev said: Hello. I really like Stellaris. Great game!

But I can't play anymore. All time after 5-10 minutes game completely freeze my PC. Music continue to play but PC do not respond anymore. Only hard reset remaining in this situation.

I tried every solution what I found: fullscreen, windowed mode, administrator mode, reininstall the game, delete all folders, reinstall luncher. Problem still exist.

I have all the DLC. No mods installed.

My PC is powerful enough. AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, Radeon 6900 XT, 64 GB Ram. Fresh Windows 10 with all updates.

Try making a new Windows user on this machine and log into it with that. Do you get the same problem there?

I'm familiar with all those screens, they are completely normal and nothing to do with your problem. What is it you see there that concerns you?

Okay, so you would need to make sure all those .exe files I liste din post #4 above are in all the kaspersky firewall exceptions lists. You may need help from their support on that.

Note that there may also be firewalls in your internet router/modem, and your ISP!

Please install and run the free utility Speccy. That tells you what AV and firewall apps are active as far as Windows is concerned, and which are installed but disabled.

That's in the WD firewall, rather than its antivirus functions. But they have likely been disabled in favour of MWB or WebRoot anyway.

You could add the launcher .exe files in there too:
dowser.exe (in the Steam Stellaris folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2023.1.1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

The game is crashing with a Windows error c0000374 , which seems to mean "heap corruption", ie a game bug. But we know that is not the case or everyone would get it!

What if you make a new Window suser on this machine and log into it with that, and install the gam ethere - does the same thing happen?

And can you test on any other machine you might have access to?

Antivirus won't be causing communications problems. Firewalls though, often do.

Is kaspersky also your firewall?

Not that I can think of, sorry - the game itself did not change this week.

Please try a clean reinstall of Steam and game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- exit the Steam app entirely
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- delete everything in the STeam folder EXCEPT steam.exe and the SteamApps folder
- run steam.exe to rebuild all that
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

Good luck!

In this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
