First, Bows are precision weapons- If you're not hitting the head, you're failing. On the default difficulty, Even a Q1 primitive bow without a mod in it using stone arrows can drop normal zombies with 3-5 solid hits to the head. By the time you have a decently modded wooden bow and a mid-to-high skill level in the Archery skill and using iron arrows you'll frequently be one or two shotting enemies you hit in the head, especially if its done from stealth. By high quality compound with steel and mods you'll be close to if not actually one shotting even the beefier zombies.

Second, The damage increase from Primitive to Wooden is more than you might realize. The loaded ammunition type is reflected in the listed damage value on the bow; Further, equipped mods increase weapon damage by 15% per mod. So if you're comparing a modded out primitive bow loaded with iron or steel arrows to a freshly crafted and unmodded bow, which defaults to being loaded with stone arrows, then yo... Read more

Bow is my primary weapon for most of my gameplay. Sure the primitive bow is not great, but it's a starter item, so it's not expected to be. Once you upgrade to the wooden bow, and again the compound bow, it improves dramatically.

Also, how is the wooden bow not accessible? Early on you just loot and visit traders. Usually have one set up by the second horde.

Your dissertation sounds like you want bows to be more on-par with guns. Which just isn't reasonable. They're currently pretty well balanced for the gameplay they are designed for.

I tend to do some mix of the two. Often I just use a prefab to start with because it's there and relatively safe. Then as I progress I fabricate my horde shelter and main base underneath it. Occasionally I'll just reinforce the prefab i took over to start- depends on my mood.

That said, I have previously in my Fortitude only playthrough gone fully heavy armor and brawled with the horde out in a field, no traps, no buildings, just my fists, some buff items like beer, and many many undead zombies to re-dead.

The console version is years behind the PC version.

Not remotely the same game.

Around that time I was experimenting with re-building my character, from a strength build to a stealth/agility build. I was playing with late game equipment, e.g. night vision goggles and maxed out blades, and seeing how I could streamline my time to clear a Tier V building.

My base has an outer shell that’s taking a huge amount of time to clad in reinforced concrete before it looks complete. It also took me that long to fully embrace electricity, putting in lighting and powered defenses. There are little things to optimize and reinforce here and there, which doesn’t seem like merely an exercise because my ammo requirements and the number of demolishers I get continues to rise.

I’m planning to take some screenshots and show off the base properly when it’s truly finished. You might consider doing that too, in our Survivor Stories sub-forum. It comes down to what appeals to you, but I’d say if you’ve put 120 hours of real time into this world, you probably ha... Read more

The blood moon summons waves of zombies to attack you, It's as simple as that. When you die, the blood moon temprarily ends- It will resume should you engage a zombie before morning comes.

The amount of zombies that come at you at one time is determined by your 'Blood Moon Count' setting. If you have it set to 8, You should never have more than 8 at once during the blood moon. From the sounds of it, you set this to 16 or higher (Or you miscounted while fighting; or didn't realize they were reinforcing with new spawns as you killed them.)
(Edit: To note, Blood moon count is PER PLAYER; So if you and a friend were co-oping, a setting of 8 would mean 8 for you, and 8 for him; totaling 16 at a time.)

Screamers are a thing, yes; But they summon a comparatively smaller wave of zombies when they scream. On night 7 and before, it's highly unlikely you would see a screamer even if you were trying to get one to spawn.

Planned post-release. Might see it in Beta or at release. Depends on how things work out.

I don't know as that is not stuff I have worked on. Don't think there have been any code changes yet for it.

I was getting high GPU usage at the main menu until I turned on VSync to limit the frame rate. Even though there’s next to nothing to render, the game will happily render it as many times a second as it can if you let it.

Your performance drop in game isn’t immediately explainable, but 100% GPU usage is expected for many systems.

I did a test speed up. I think it made the official list. It is nowhere near x2 speed. The speeds are limited due to worst case chunk load speeds, else vehicles freeze while chunks load.

It could be used for it, but masks have to be made and hooked up, which takes time.

Why not use what you have instead of asking for things you don't need. We have lanterns and torches you can place. Generators you can hook up and place spot lights. The drone has a headlight mod. Flares can be modded in IMO, it is a waste of vanilla resources and dev time when there are 50 things that do the same thing. It seems about as valuable as adding pinto beans, black beans, northern beans, red beans etc... who cares we have corn.

Not yet.

That would require some kind of concept of what is inside and what is out. Hard to do in a fully destroyable game.

Goggles occupy the entire head slot.

You are always wrong bro.

Not happening for A20. Vehicle mods are but the whole vehicle crit system has to wait because Faatal is swamped with other features.

We have flashlights and gun lights and helmet lights. Do we really need more lights?

No, lockpicking is shippable as is. Sure a minigame might be better but we're a small team and we can do more quest types or redo features that are shippable already.

That is already done.

I do believe we will support tinting and it will be better then ever, i.e. using a tint mask. I doubt we will support cosmetic swapping, but we might. It hasn't been discussed and there is so much to do it feels like a can we will kick down the road at the moment.

No the armor will provide standalone perks and not interact with other objects, other than itself for a full set bonus.

I don't think so, but we might add alternate versions of specific sets at a store you can buy. Like if you found a miner outfit and purchased miner outfit variant, you could set the skin to the variant. I believe Rust does this too. I'm not saying we won't but it kind of doesn't make sense and in PVP might be misleading as to what you are up against seeing a soft ball cap on a guy actually wearing a steel helmet.

We're looking at spring which always leads to more like summer. We'll see though, we're making good progress.

A new tinting shader is already done and all vehicles now have a tint mask, which allows the dye color in the cosmetic slot to tint specific areas of the vehicles.

There was old code the put lighting into blocks, but did not work very well and added overhead, so was disabled.

Maybe someday we can find a better way.

Ages ago I made a post about SI and someone transferred it to a wiki page.

Other than specific numbers it should still all be valid.
