True but I think the katana has special meaning in this genre so lots of people would appreciate it.

Maybe same with lawnmower…heheh

I'd like a katana in the game. Seems like a katana should be part of any zombie game loosely inspired by The Walking Dead. Fishing would be cool. I always like fishing in games. Hopefully after the game releases they will think about extending the game in these directions.

I would love some more cooking dishes like if fishing was a thing it would be pretty cool.
Also since fractions were announced, it would be cool if some "resources" survived. Like certain animals for example. I bet a lot of people would love to have it official and nost just a mod. Maybe chickens, pigs and cows.
Also, I would love more variety of melee items. Like we have the spear, but a sword would also be cool, or a katana.

What do you guys think?

10 years ago today my son and I were following the Rust key auctions hoping the price would drop to the point where I could justify buying the game but it never fell low enough before they were all bought up. Doing a search for similar games led me to this one and we started following it. We liked Minecraft and in a lot of ways this game seemed like a merging of Rust and Minecraft (at least on paper).

I decided to take the leap of faith and bought the game during the winter steam sale just before the end of the year for $29.99 (regular price $34.99). At the time there were lots of threads on this forum about the game crashing and computers overheating trying to run the game, etc. So I was nervous about whether an early access game like this would even work on my rig which wasn't high end by any means.

I did have to make some sacrifices in the settings so the game didn't look very pretty at all for quite awhile until I eventually upgraded my computer. But gamepla... Read more

Probably nearer to A13, actually. But yeah- Pretty much just go back in versions till you're happy. In A16+ as the versions progress more and more of them are that dungeon style buildings- Stories of how these buildings fell to the zombies and failed to protect their denizens. A21 it's pretty much all of them... There's a few Tier 0 buildings that are basically burnt out wrecks or downright leftover rubble that don't have an intended path, but basically everything T1+ is a 'dungeon'.

Originally posted by Jonnson: I wonder if you could tailor make a city like that, via a mod. Maybe take all the trees, water, ores and earth out of the game, and make the entire map just the city. Like a 3k x 3k map surrounded by radiation, with the roads leading out roadblocked with warning signs. I think it could be done, but that would take some time as Roland mentioned. That's a lot of work, hehe.

Well, it would exclude a lot of people right now but in 10 years when the game is finally released that won't be such a crazy requirement. We'll all have quantum computers and flying cars by then.

Just kidding.

Maybe.

It would be cool if this wasn't a voxel game though. I would love that.

Now that I think about it, even AAA games don't have that really. They have big cities and big buildings but you can't enter a significant portion of them. 7 Days actually has a lot more accessible POIs than most games do. There might be some exceptions but I can't think of any.
Plus, those AAA games aren't drawing millions of 3D Voxels. Buildings in cities aren't much more than Hollywood city props. Just 2D planes with pictures pasted on.

I dont mean wide i mean tall, why are most of the buildings so short and lackluster, i think it would be really fun to try to navigate and survive in a huge city, with bridges connecting tall skyscrapers, vines on lamps and grass growing out of cracks in the concrete tiles of the city, and why is there not more variety in blocks, i dont mean shapes i mean their "age" for example concrete blocks with moss or even trees poking out of the cracks would by themselves add a lot and now imagine 1/4 of the blcoks in the game having that variety and the overall atmosphere would really improve.
might add more questions later

Modders are great for their genius changes and willingness to update when needed, 7 Days to Die is great as a cool modding platform, the devs are great for designing it with modding in mind, and the players are great for exploring all the community content and finding new ways to have fun!

The cables used to be visible all the time, when electricity was first implemented. It was always controversial. Some people wanted to see them. Others wanted a clean base without the clutter of wires. They had to go to considerable lengths to hide the wires in the walls, or else live with it. Since the devs have tried it both ways, it seems unlikely they’d change it back now. Maybe it could be an in-game option, the way you can turn the bounds of a land claim block on or off. If your biggest gripe is seeing the relays unwired, you could use the same techniques used before to hide the relays in the walls.

There's nothing that forces you to spend your perk points or craft vehicles. You can do a perkless playthrough. Finding the magazines will allow you to craft different items much like the books and schematics of those old alphas did. You might need to visit the trader to puchase some items but you can keep that minimal and avoid doing any of their jobs and you should have something that is very close to the pre-perk gameplay.

Since I believe we start out a bit lower in ability than our character in pre-perk times I would probably cave a bit and spend just one point in all the perks spreading the points around to everything just to raise my stats a bit to be more inline with how we were back then as a static never changing character. But other than that just ignore perk points and play as perkless as possible.

It breaks immersion how you can pick up any 5 rocks off the ground and start a fire with them. I can't do that. In fact, even a primitive survival expert isn't likely to pull that off. And this is a survival game. Back when I made a mod for the game, I changed the recipe so you can't start a fi...

Two things I miss are loot that’s tailored to the zombie type, and procedurally generated caves.

If you’re going to take the time to go over there, loot everything, and by necessity deal with any zombies that get in your way, it seems like you might as well do the quest and get the reward too. Even without the reward, I find it satisfying to know the building is completely cleared. If you’re looking for a tier 5 challenge in a smaller, quicker package, try an infested quest.
