Hey!

In the patch we released on Tuesday, we included a way to better capture information when Apex crashes on PC. The game should now write an apex_crash.txt file to your My Documents folder when it crashes. Since then we got many submissions of apex_crash.txt directly from our fans, searching the Internet, and from the forums.

The good news is they have been giving us great info and revealed a few crash locations, and we discovered that many of these are related. One of the issues appeared to be caused by one part of the program changing memory used by another part. These bugs are the most difficult to find!

As an analogy, imagine you've got...

The crashes seem to correlate to the updates, but I'm not sure at all. One day I'll crash nearly nonstop then the next my friend will crash nonstop. From the user side it seems completely random. The last 2 weeks of februrary until the first week of March I didn't crash at all. But now I am crashing again, and much more often. The crash log below is from about 5 minutes ago. Video will stop, while audio continues and then the game will close about 5-10 seconds later. Sometimes it will do this but then recover and be fine. However during those times I know a crash is coming soon most likely as I can tell the game/server or something is struggling. I'm on NVIDIA's WHQL 419.35 d...

Thanks for that info, it (the death box part especially) tracks with some of what we’ve figured out on this end, and that’s super helpful to hear.

Any update on this? Literally thousands upon thousands of people bought the battlepass after reading crash fixes in the patch notes, and are still unable to play because the number of crashes has seemingly not changed. Are you still reading this thread? Is this where we should be posting crash logs?

Some communication on expected timelines/what you're actually doing right now would sure be really helpful. I know the sentiment amongst my immediate gaming circle is that people feel like they're been taken advantage of, literally paying for a battlepass they are unable to use. Are we going to have to wait another month for crash fixes? How much of the battle pass will remain by the time we can play?

Yes, we are still reading this thread, and this is still a fine place to post reports (we also get them though EA support). I can’t provide a full or official update, but I can say that from what I have seen the reports are very helpful for our engineers, and they’ve been working with them since they became available Tuesday. I can’t provide much more than that, other than to say we’re working on it, keep the reports coming, and thank you for your patience.

We fixed some crash bugs, but not all of them unfortunately. More fixes are in the pipeline and we're trying to get them out as fast as we can.

Bloodhound was updated in the patch as well, give him a try. Threat scope should be the same. Let me know if they're not when you give them a try.

All should be well, now. Sorry for the hiccup!

Thanks for capturing this and sharing. We've got folks looking into it.

Thanks for posting this. Should be fixed in the next patch.

Yep. The grapple hook is just flying through the air right now, looking blindly for any nearby ziplines to hook up with. :) Needs a little extra logic to make it more discerning.

I can't even imagine how this went down lol "Hey, we need you to look as stupid as possible for this running animation" -"say no more"

looking as stupid as possible is already a given the moment you walk into the stage in a in spandex onesie with little dots all over your face, plastic mini golf balls velcroed to your body and holding a "gun" made out of pvc pipes lol

We (the animation team) literally could not stop laughing when we were shooting these run cycles at the MoCap stage! It was a blast :D

The biggest difference is the fact that every BP level takes the same amount of exp as opposed to the steady ramp up of the regular levels.

The next biggest difference is the bonus xp mechanics. Overall, it shouldn't take you that much longer than getting to level 100.

It should take less

No changes to the loot tables since the balance patch.

A little self promo here: I did the mathzzz. Short answer, no. Long answer if you played 2 hours a day and avg'd 6k exp a game it would take you upto the last day to hit 100.

Your math isn't correct. The minimum Battle Pass XP you can get from a 20 minute game (assuming you get the character bonus) is 7,200 XP (6/sec *60 * 20min). That assumes you do zero damage, don't top 3, don't play with friends, etc.

I don't think the game can cause that kind of an issue on it's own, but it might be pushing your rig hard enough to trigger some other issue? Have you tried locking framerate or monitoring temperates?

Comment

Sorry you had that experience. I'll not sure how up to speed EA support is on the crash logs, but you can always post it here, or to the crash mega thread as well.

Sorry but this is just not true. I just played for 6hrs straight and just barely reached BP4 whilst leveraging the bonuses. If you want these rewards (that you paid for), you're going to have to grind like a mad man. This definitely isn't a 100 hr thing unless you win every game you play perhaps.

You get 6XP/sec for surviving if you have the character bonus going, so that’s 1.3 hours / level if you do literally nothing in the match but live and never do a point of damage ever.
