Anchor damage reduction needs a timer on it. Nothing major, could be as low as one or maybe five minutes. But with this change, you're gonna have a bunch of ships insta-anchoring to try and avoid damage.

Another solution would be to only make it in effect in your territory.

So the damage resistance won't apply until the boat has fully anchored and there is a little bit of time on that. We are open to making further changes to improve this if necessary though :).

So glad you guys are happy! We worked hard on this one. My body is comprised of energy drinks and black coffee at the moment. We look forward to continuing to move forward in our development process and future updates.

Appreciate the feedback folks. We've still got a lot of work we want to do, including the major redesigns. Day at a time! If anything is bs, don't hesitate to let us know - we may/may not agree, but we'll be paying attention. We don't reply to everything, or things take a bit more time then you'd like, but just want to reassure you that we are aware of what's happening and will respond via a patch appropriately (if necessary :P).

I didn't know the speed bonus didn't do anything; just spent a ton of resources and mythos building a speed bonus mythical armor set lol.

GG me

Sorry, it wasn't meant to be in the game :(

Could you elaborate please?

Aye, there definitely needs to be some tweaks made across the board. There's also a bug we've identified with heatwave and coldfront, which we should be able to push a fix live soon that will deal with some of the spiking of the temps experience when they're occuring.

Yup, those are a nightmare and a priority for us to resolve. Sadly they're one of the more difficult cases we've encountered and we are working on a solution.

Honestly man I want this to work out, but at this point alot of faith has been lost. Its easy to type a quick couple sentences to give us hope. Is there any reason you cant share what some of the changes are? Personally, I would feel better having an idea of what you think can fix things, instead of just living off hope for "some pretty big design changes over the coming months"

Cause we're still figuring it out. Once we have that is worth sharing, we'll share it. Some of the things we've touched on at a high level:

  • Allowing players to experience the ‘piracy’ side of the game immediately, whilst not trivializing the content.
  • Making sure that solo players and smaller groups feel safer when logging off, or that after they’ve taken a break they can come back and know that it won’t be such a difficult feat to get out on the seas again.
  • Incentivize companies to neutralize their territories, inviting others to make use of their land so that both can benefit.
  • More MMO aspects: player markets, player-specified automatic trade routes, additional quests, and daily missions
  • and moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

But nothing specific to give details on right now. Developing and designing a game is a pretty huge undertaking, so redesigning core aspects can take a bit of time.

I want to believe.

Same? Ultimately talk is cheap, so over the coming months we'll have to show it, otherwise, the game will not do as well as it could and everyone at the studio recognises that.

The new plan is making some pretty big design changes over the coming months, so yes! Continue forward with the new plan. Old plan was sunk.

Because they straight copied ARK ~2 years ago. That feature wasn't implemented yet. I would guess that many of the same exploits/bugs that existed back then are still in ATLAS, which explains the prevalence of dupes ( and other exploits ). Search for bugs and features requests from before ~2017 and you will see a few familiar things

I wouldn't say 2 years ago, at least not entirely! But aye the game comes from the same foundation. The good thing is, we're often able to bring in fixes or make similar changes and vice versa, there are some fixes and optimisations we've done on ATLAS that the ARK team have also been able to incorporate. As for dupe/transfers, the methods used in ATLAS are pretty different to ARK so we have different problems we had to address prior to launch and any new ones now that are discovered wouldn't have happened in ARK.

It's a bug we're looking into at the moment for tames and players, sadly it's one of the more complex ones but still a priority so hope to have a fixed line up as soon as possible.

Looks like I need to do some reading on their server notes.

We launched at 1x rates, shortly thereafter we permanently increased to 2x --> so now the new base 1x rates are technically 2x, and on weekends we're running 2x (which means 4x what we launched with). Good luck with your server!

Nope, haven't made any changes to that.

I have never experienced such an insanely addicting but buggy mess of a game, i can only imagine how fantastic it could be when polished. The potential is given.

The crab is still coming in February.

Gonna have to disagree with you on some points. Particularly "ARK was very content orientated and getting in more things for people to do. ATLAS doesn't have that problem. There's already a lot to do" Like what? We can make a character, build one of three structures and one of four ships. Land is nearly impossible to get out of a lawless zone or big group so have fun with that, taming is a thing but only like 3 tames are decent and those were just rips from Ark. The only "new" content thats been added are things that were supposed to be in the launch (Check the trailer, everything "new" was in it including some of the February update.) Pretty much every end game encounter is just shoot it with balista then pray the lag lets you turn it in. The Kraken is neat but again, just a rip from ark reskinned. Hell even the islands are just copy pasted most of the time (you can find the exact same island in like 30 grids) the only real "Things to do" is build and shoot things and that can onl...

You've identified some of the problems we have with the game and things we need to improve, so people can play it and experience it.

Land is nearly impossible to get out of a lawless zone or big group so have fun with that

A part of the game is the base building aspect, and it ties into a lot of gameplay loop, but a lot of players can't experience it because they can't even get land in the first place.

taming is a thing but only like 3 tames are decent and those were just rips from Ark.

So we've got a lot more creatures than 3, and have planned for many more beyond that too, but you're implying only 3 are worthwhile, so maybe we need to see why the others aren't so much and then there's another bit of the game players are able to enjoy.

A lot of players are suggesting that PvP isn't very enjoyable at the moment because it's imbalanced, bear cart NPC wars, offline raiding, gu...

I don't even know any more. I had so much hope in this game even after all my friends quit. I just don't see the other side of this where it's all sunny and happy times. You don't understand the feeling of a massive disconnect between what players are experiencing and what it feels like you guys are listening to or seeing.

  • Balance is all over the place. Things were implemented with what seemed like no play testing or foresight of the consequences.

  • Cheating was/is rampant and from the public perception there was a clear lack of urgency or care to address the problem. Like seriously, the uproar was so apparent and it feels like you don't give a shit.

  • Too many bugs to the point of it being unacceptable.

  • Too many systems not working or missing. The game that was sold to us is not even close to being in sight.

  • A large chunk of the core game play loop is so mundane and uninteresting. I don't know why you t...

I think we've made it pretty clear that we understand players are frustrated and that we need to make serious changes, it's been stated multiple times. It also needs to be understood that a lot goes into making these games, and making design changes. It's not something that can be done overnight.
