I also think there should probably be a question regarding whether people will actually play the game if trade is/is not implemented because the assumption that the poll seems to make is that people that don't want trade will continue to play even if you add it.

As far as feedback is concerned the only way I can see you guys pleasing everyone is if you do two leagues. 1 league which is balanced as the game currently is and 1 league with open trade that has its own separate trade focused balance.

We've always ideally wanted a solution that would appeal to both people who want trade and people who either don't want trade or just want item drops and crafting to remain as plentiful and powerful as they currently are.

We had previously concluded that there wasn't really a trade system that would satisfy traders while being limited enough in power that it wouldn't significantly impact item drops (either directly through drop rate changes to account for it, or indirectly through buffs to monsters that raise the standard of items required to progress, or indirectly by raising the community's standard for what counts as a good item).

It can for some systems, not for others. As we’ve mentioned in the past, we’ve looked at many possible systems and it can be an important distinction.

@ExsiliumUltra pointed out one of the primary the distinctions here. a “bot” is typically one that’s some measure of control/setup by the player.

We certainly understand there are players who are completely against trade, which we try to capture in the very first question. We’re trying to gather feedback with some questions in the frame that ‘if a more open trade was to be implemented, what would be the most okay for you’. We also understand not everyone’s exact preferences will be captured in the options present, however if there’s too finely detailed of options, the results wouldn’t be very usable. We’re absolutely looking at threads, and other discourses for the more finely detailed opinions.

In the questions, the term ‘bot’ refers to an intermediary which is not the player, though the trade is connecting through to a player.

Greetings, Travelers. I want to address the feedback we’re seeing that many of you are disappointed about trade in Last Epoch being limited to Item Gifting.

While this system will not change for our nearing 0.9 release and our priority remains the same: keeping Last Epoch’s loot system rewarding for solo play and not sacrificing that for trade, we would ideally like to find a solution that pleases everyone and makes trading fans feel like they can fully enjoy Last Epoch. It’s entirely possible that we were incorrect when we concluded that there wasn’t a more expansive trade system that would both satisfy people who want trade and not overshadow item drops and crafting.

One way in which we may have been mistaken is in our assumptions about which ways of constraining trade players would be ok with, and which they would not.

This version of the game also has most of the changes that will be present in the full release of Beta 0.9 but we aren’t ready to share those patch notes quite yet (they are very long).

But, we’ll post the patch notes for any hotfixes we make during the closed week event here!
