Hi everyone!

It’s been exactly 100 dev diaries since we introduced the Custodian initiative[forum.paradoxplaza.com] alongside the Lem update. With that milestone met, and 314 being funny math number, I thought it would be a good time to review what the Custodians have accomplished, some of the process they use, and where we could go from here.

To review, the original idea behind the Custodians Initiative was to do some of the following:
  • Tweaking game balance
  • Adding new content to old DLC
  • Polishi...

I can't seem to get that gif, maybe a short movie instead?

Does this affect our similar games CK2, EU4, HOI4, that I see you have?

If you have a VPN, try logging into that before starting the launcher/game. Does that change matters?

I don't know, I'm sorry! Never needed that info in the years the launcher has been out ...

The url it goes to is https://api.paradox-interactive.com if that's of any help.

Game patches do not in general mean launcher patches or updates, they are separate apps.

So was this perhaps after a launcher update? 2023.11 came out a couple of weeks ago.

That said, I have no idea what the interaction between it and your internet connection could possibly be. Make sure all these apps are in the exceptions lists of the firewalls in Windows and in your router:

dowser.exe (in the Steam Stellaris folder)
C:/users/{username}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2023.11/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/{username}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

Does that help?

In Settings -> Gameplay there's a setting to turn off pop-up messages.

This does sound like a bug, I agree. Please add your info to other threads in Bug Reports on the matter. OR make your own new thread there.

Sorry about that!

Windows has placed your User Documents folder on OneDrive, which is MS's cloud. That ought to work but OD needs to be running and syncing perfectly all the time, or you'll get those errors.

If you don't want your documents help up there, you'll need to reconfigure Windows to have your User Documents folder back in the local location, C:/users/{userName}/Documents

All the best!

Users with this issue, can you advise what (if any) mods (especially UI mods) you're using? We're trying to narrow this issue down. Thanks!

Hi all!

The Stellaris 3.9.1 ‘Caelum’ update has been released, with full release notes listed here[forum.paradoxplaza.com].

Stellaris 3.9 "Caelum" Release Trailer

Unless critical issues arise over the weekend, our current plan is to have a general bugfixing 3.9.2 patch roughly two weeks from now. We’re also planning a followup localized 3.9.3 release in mid to late October, which will include some of the issues brought up during the Open Beta that require new... Read more

I don't think we've seen this issue reported on the forums -- would you be so kind as to submit a bug report so the devs can look into it?

Game updates can make the game and the launcher a little wonky, unfortunately. There are several things you can try to fix this issue, try each of these steps in order, and attempt to load the game after each one:
1. Disable all mods
2. Verify Local Files (Steam) - Right Click Stellaris, Right Click Properties, Go to Local Files and click ""Verify Integrity of Game Files""
3. In the launcher, go to Settings, and change your Video Settings to Borderless Fullscreen or Windowed mode
4. (In Windows) Go to Settings, Add/Remove Programs, and Uninstall Paradox Launcher v2. After relaunching the game, let the launcher download updates, and restart the game again.

If none of these things work, go to support.paradoxplaza.com and open a ticket. Customer Support will be able to help you sort things out!

MadCow94 said: Shiny new bug (I think). Life seeded origin starts with the ability to build a level 4 Gaia seeder on their homeworld. They cannot build any on other planets.
Small woops but Alfrays fixed that, will come in the next update we do whenever that is.

The settings we did above ought to have limited it to 60, I don't understand why you are getting those results.

Dxdiag does not give any hardware clues, but different crashes in different memory addresses could be almost anything I'm afraid; in order of probability I'd say memory, CPU, system board, GPU. If you can match those crashes up with entries in the Windows Event Viewer you might get a better idea!   ... Read more
