When you have a chance can you try repairing Apex Legends in Origin to see if that makes any difference at all? If you right-click on the game in your Origin library you'll see a Repair option when the menu comes up.

It sounds like you're in the process of creating an EA Account. The Public ID is your EA Account ID, basically like a username. It's what would appear publicly as your username for Origin.

Crashes like that are definitely rough to deal with, especially when you're trying to grind ranked.
Have you had the chance to try out the connection troubleshooting steps I linked in one of my earlier posts in this thread? In some cases crashes like that can actually happen because of connectivity issues, and those steps may help.

Can you try something for me when you've got the chance?
Follow the filepath in that error message and you should be able to locate the specific .pak file it mentions. Delete that file, then repair Apex Legends in Origin. If you right-click on the game in the Origin Library you'll see a Repair option when the menu comes up.
