Hello Survivors!

Here is V1.2 b22 EXP for you all.
While the team is all hands on deck working on V2.0, we wanted you all to get the fixes, optimizations and console crossplay preparations sooner rather than later.
With this build we introduce various optimizations to all platforms, but also unleash the ability to generate RWG maps to our Console fans.
Crossplay will be fully enabled once experimental ends, V1.2 goes STABLE and our Console users get access to V1.2. Until then there will be no-one to crossplay with.

This will open up crossplay between PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC clients, however no dedicated servers just yet.

V1.2 should be compatible with existing save games, but we recommend starting a new game for the very best experience.

Here is how you participate:
  1. Right click on the game in steam
  2. Click on properties
  3. Click the “betas” tab
  4. The drop down menu will ...

Yep. Cheats (or I suppose, mods) were in fact on, whether or not you were aware of it, OP. A mischievous person joined your game.

Cool. Now, if this thread is going to go anywhere, you’ll want to offer something to discuss. :buzzed:

The mods are here to handle such things. Please just report necroposting and move on. And to anyone looking for players, in any language, please use the Meeting Room sub-forum. That’s precisely what it’s for.

Thread cleaned up. Please avoid discussion of politics (which extends to social/culture war issues), as this is against forum rules. The topic is Afterlife and other mods versus vanilla.

So, you're asking in the Forums for two features which already exist in the game???

The OP is declaring what their character needs - in other words their priorities when playing. Perhaps even what they consider overpowered. But not what the game needs added, of course.

I can relate, because I play it as a survival game first and foremost. The water purifier mod effectively turns water survival from on to off, unless your map is unusually devoid of bodies of water. And similarly, though I enjoy hunting in 7DtD, Animal Tracker makes an already too-easy task even easier. The stacks of meat pile up, even without that.

I’m more of a builder than a miner. And when I’m base building, I want to precisely remove every existing block that I don’t want, and preserve the full HP of every block that remains.

With the auger’s high fire rate, it’s more like you flip it on and then find something to hit. I find myself constantly damaging the block behind the one I just destroyed, and I don’t like that. So I tap the trigger, effectively making it ‘semi-auto,’ so as to not overshoot the current block.

The result is, it’s not as fast as a legendary pickaxe at that point. Or at least, I don’t perceive it to be as fast. So I stick to my trusty quality 6 steel pickaxe, which for my current character build I’ve worked out takes me 5 power attacks + 2 regular attacks per concrete block. I’ve gotten used to that rhythm, and I can maintain it for most building tasks without getting winded, without gas and with few screamers.

My working theory: the roadmap includes some major updates that are not expected to be compatible with existing saved games. So it's effectively a notice because today's saved games can still get wiped. This is a bigger issue on consoles, where you can't simply change betas like you can with Steam. But maybe they feel it's safer to keep the notice on all platforms, or maybe it's simply easier to have parity between PC and console where it comes to this screen.

…You already can? It’s a 100% destructible world, with limited exceptions for e.g. trader POIs. From memory, most lights have 300 HP at most, so it shouldn’t take that much to destroy them. Zombies might hear you shooting, but I can think of no fundamental obstacle to shooting out lights. Zombies have definitely broken my lights at times. And your visibility is light-dependent, so it would actually benefit your stealth.

Wind does not have a direction in game and being gimped in speed, because wind, does not sound fun. That is not how weather survival will work. It is actually designed as biome survival.

To be fair, it has been working for months. Sony and Microshaft are the ones holding it back right now.

Sounds like a bug, so I’ll move it to Support & Bug Reports. Filing a report on the official forum at 7daystodie.com would be best though.

I don't know about WASD back then as I joined the team at the start of A17.

One of the console programmers is working on adding a console Performance or Quality choice and a toggle for FSR.

Crossplay is nearing completion.

Glad you two are having fun!

It was a gamma setting on a post processing effect, which is the only thing it is doing in v1.1 at <50%. I disabled that for less than 50% brightness.

I've never heard anyone say day is too bright. There is way to fix that for any game. Turn down your monitor brightness/contrast. Now having two settings in game would be more flexible, but I don't know when I would get to that.
