It's important to take note that Streamers are not simply running the game; They're running the game, encoding the Stream, running many other programs that help manage their stream, often also writing a backup copy of the stream to disk, and more besides.

If, for example, historically they normally got maybe 30-40fps from the game and now they're getting 50-60, That's a marked improvement. You see what you consider bad performance on screen, but to them, It's improved despite the workload they're dumping on their PC.

I think you're over-emphasizing the benefit of the damage bonus from those gloves. Maybe on Insane it could be 'mandatory', but, on Default difficulty and one or two steps higher, you already get high enough damage with quite a few weapons to 1 shot enemies a large majority of the time; and to 2-3 shot them pretty much every time.. and with a maxed associated skill tree and stat, you have a hefty chance of instantly breaking the limb you hit- which includes heads, regardless of remaining HP.

Even with a couple zombies having more HP, there just isn't enough incentive, imo at least, to be using those gloves to the exclusion of all else. 60% more on a 1shot is still a 1 shot. 60% more on a 2-3 shot might be a 1-2 shot, and that's also just not meaningful enough to me to bother- Indeed, it'd take some of the fun away for me personally, because I'd be TOO strong and none of the enemies would feel like much of a threat.

Will it get nerfed? Maybe. But I don't think ... Read more

Simple. Time. Steve and I did work on them early A21, but on the schedule for A21 and then 1.0, there was no time to get them to the quality level desired, so delayed.

Probably. On Windows, settings are in registry under the game name and the game name is the same.

Sleeper volumes now have a basic scripting system called Min Script. It is just a list of commands. There are commands to spawn, wait x amount of seconds or wait for a zed count and play a sound. At some point i would like to add looping with a count and reuse of sleeper spawn points.

That is exactly how I play games. Generally getting bored at 30-40 hours. I will make it to 60 if they keep me entertained enough. I come back to No Man's Sky like once a year to try the new updates. A new World of Warcraft expansion will hold me for maybe 2 months, then 6 month break and back for 1 or 2 months and repeat. Maybe once a year for Terraria or Avorion. Every 2 years for some others. Too many games to play.

I don't know if that is an area we would want to focus on. The roadmap is full. End of year of coming fast.

Aside from new cards possibly being added, I don't see any reason for changes otherwise.

AI has had little changes in the last year.

Maybe. It is being looked at right now.

Fine by me. My only intent is to show that the change is real. If your reasons are the actual reasons and Chatgpt's reasons are garbage, so be it. Either way, the shift has been happening. Those who intractably stand by a traditional definition of 1.0 are just going to continue to be disappointed and surprised again and again and again. This is because the old definition is becoming more and more outdated with every new release that is unfinished at 1.0 and then serviced post 1.0.

TFP is not a pioneer of "not finished at 1.0". Not by a long shot.

With so much interest in what ChatGPT has to say, I thought I’d take a stab at it. My prompt was, “Has there been a shift in the meaning of 1.0 in the software industry?”

The response:

Yes, there has been a noticeable shift in the meaning of “1.0” in the software industry over the years. Traditionally, version “1.0” signified the first stable release of a software product, marking it as feature-complete and ready for general use. However, this meaning has evolved due to several factors:

1. Agile Development and Continuous Deployment: With the adoption of agile methodologies and continuous deployment practices, the development cycle has become more iterative and incremental. Software is often released in smaller, more frequent updates, with new features and improvements rolled out continuously. This means that the initial “1.0” release might no longer be seen as the final, feature-complete product but rather as the first step in a continuous process of de... Read more
