1) Items in the marketplace are identical in properties from the base variant they derive from, they do not offer any advantages like lower costs, higher housing points or any other mechanical benefit.

1a) As per the feedback we received it's mostly indirect benefits feared. Server admins can optionally decide to allow to trade marketplace items ingame and make them usable by players that have not bought them, that is not active by default and displayed in the server information - as such up to the choice of admins and players.

Architecture ratings are a community interactivity mechanic and intended to rate effort and skill of the player creation, not what blocks they were made of - as with any community interactivity mechanic a player can rate for absolutely any subjective reason and the exact reasons can barely be attributed aside of the typical reputation for friendship - our tests have shown that there is no measurable difference in given reputation between... Originally posted by Afrozzi: What is different about them from a functional standpoint? Let's use Mortared Stone. All cosmetic variations are used for the same recipes as the original. The default unskinned version still exists and can be crafted with same cost.

Do you refer to the different stone types? They're all part of world generation, have different traits and spawn in different biomes, quantities and contain different ores. Their reason of implementation is that, not the color they offer. Before those were introduced we had generic blueish stone everywhere as a placeholder.

Do you mean the pots? You can put seeds into them.

If you mean the different stone and log types, those are functional gameplay elements - those weren't added for aesthetics primarily. We added new block forms every now and then and decorative items that fit a specific new feature theme and plan to do that going forward as well, but there was no plans to introduce any cosmetic items without a gameplay based reason.

There is no progress saved on our servers and the marketplace items should be cached.

I'll bring that up to the team :)

The same behaviour is reflected in Eco, if you host a local game through the client or put the server in offline mode (-offline) you do not need a registration. Dedicated servers that are online are connected to the internet and as such can be joined by anyone the administrator desires, we have no way to prevent them changing who can join once they are started, as such they need to be registered.

As for the Steam linking issue, we are working on that, please refer to the following Discord announcement:

PSA for those that get error 500 when trying to link with Steam:

We found the issue, as a workaround instead of logging into your created account just click on "Log in with Steam" when opening play.eco. It will then ask you to create an account that should work.

If you don't want to do that we'll have a solution for the existing accounts on monday.

I'm sorry you are unhappy about that. To allow us effective enforcement of our Terms of Service it is now mandatory to link servers with a login - similar to other games, for example Valve games (Counter Strike, etc.) requiring the creation of a unique token linked to a mobile-phone verified Steam account. Eco will also support the creation of tokens as an alternative to directly logging into an account on the server as well.

In Difficulty.eco you can set the following to receive Claim Stakes and Claim Papers working outside of settlements when reading a skill scroll:

"ClaimStakesGrantedUponSkillscrollConsumed": 1.0,

"ClaimPapersGrantedUponSkillscrollConsumed": 5.0,

Yes, that is intended behaviour - online servers need to be registered. Worlds started through the client will still shutdown when the client is closed.

You can either turn Steam to offline mode or remove your internet connection.

Please reach out to the host, they may need to adjust their systems to allow you to login the server to an account.

Where do you get the text that is in your opening post? It's not contained in the logs?

That is not possible. (Games started through the client don't need a registration, though, so you should be able to play just fine by starting the world locally through the client.)

You need to be offline, that's all. Can you please post the full log?

If you hover over the respective "Not eligible" notice in the Marketplace info screen it'll tell you that there needs to have been a small amount of active play hours from multiple people in the recent time. Additionally the server needs to have been in online mode, public and without password. There is additional requirements to prevent abuse that aren't disclosed.

The purchase issue should be resolved, we're still looking into Steam linking.

No, there is requirements for a server to be eligible for hosting credit share.
