Increasing the difficulty of standard overworld combat
Well, it looks like this thread can be closed. All those who wanted to make overland more challenging, you've somehow got it.
We will keep the thread open as we haven't implemented overland changes yet. But we will monitor and follow up when relevant information on overland is shared.

I too am curious about what 'seasons' means in this context. If is just pure FOMO fuel not sure how I feel about this, at least with chapters you can complete stuff at your own leisure.
Just wanted to follow up on seasons a little bit. We will have more details in April, but Jess Folsom noted this in another thread. Thought it would help here too. ZOS_JessicaFolsom;c-8239046
One thing we do want to clarify today are the questions about seasonal content. Our plans are not to remove content such as quests, stories, and new areas like some other games do when a season is over.

Thank you for all the great questions so far, everyone. We are keeping a list to help inform what we need to answer and explain more later. And we will. Our plans are not to remove content such as quests, stories, and new areas like some other games do when a season is over.

Just to follow up here. The changes here are to make us more agile and produce more engaging and varied content. So from our prospective, it is not us "going into maintenance" but rather being able to address several concerns the player base has noted over the years.

Yeah, things felt a bit better. I just ended a few hours of Cyro and with multiple ball groups going at it fighting for a scroll I only ran into a few spikes. The biggest thing is i stayed connected during those spikes and didn't crash like usual. I can handle the spikes.. just keep me connected. Really curious if @ZOS_Kevin or anyone can chime in and say if something was changed - it sure felt like it. Fingers crossed this is a start for some improvement.
So we have adjusted some things to deal with malicious activity. That is the main stuff we have done as of recent. Like during the weekend when we had those disconnect issues on Saturday. ZOS_JessicaFolsom;c-8238380

Hey everyone, we've been seeing a recent increase in malicious activity targeting our servers, so we have made adjustments on our end to address this threat. Because of this, you may experience decreased game performance while these adjustments are in place. Please note that this is not related to the datacenter power failure last week. We will continue to monitor for any malicious activity, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hey all, just wanted to chime in here. Thank you starting the thread and having the discussion. One of the things we’ve always strived for with moderation is leading with education with community guidelines in mind. Personally, I know I have worked with several folks over the last few years to clarify guidelines or help reverse actions if comments were taken out of context. We are not trying to stifle conversation. However, given some of the feedback in the thread, we can always adjust. In the new year, we’ll review the feedback in this thread and reach out to some of you via DM to get additional feedback. We can then chat with the moderation team and go from there. The point of the forums is to have conversation. Both about the fun and cool things you love about ESO and for us to get feedback on where we can improve. We want to empower everyone to have challenging and engaging discourse, without breaking community guidelines. Thanks again for raising the topic and we’ll work towar... Read more

We are seeing things improve and stabilize on our end of things. Still monitoring, but think folks should be able to log in without being kicked.

I have been in for about 30m with a steady ping 40-60.
We’re starting to see some things stabilize on our end. But we are continuing to monitor.

I really wonder what service monitoring Zos has in place. End users always seem to detect issues on all layers long before the service owner does and they can never tell if its isolated, fully down or otherwise. Their customers are the monitoring solution, no wonder their terms and conditions are so poor. At least its consistent with the poor level of service.
We have a ton of internal monitoring and the teams - including a NOC - who investigate these issues aren't always the same ones that put up forum messaging. Thank you.

Hey all, just wanted to note that we have a team looking into the current connection issues. So we’ll provide more info based on how those go. Just noting it might take a bit because of the current time on our end of things. Being almost 3am.

Just confirming we are also looking into potential issues that may be affecting PC EU as well - thanks all!

Hi All, just wanted to note that we have a team investigating issues right now. But given the time right now, figuring things out will take some time. If we have an update, we will follow up.

Hi everyone, just wanted to confirm the team is investigating these issues which appear to be affecting all NA servers. Thanks!
Do y’all sleep?!?
Sometimes ;) Seriously though, we have alerts that occur for issues like this along with on-call teams that handle the investigations/resolutions. These folks had already been investigating for a bit - I just happen to be up because my dog needed to go out and I saw there was some action happening.

Hello everyone. As communicated earlier, we now have all live megaservers online and available to players. We understand the outage was frustrating, but we want to thank you for your patience as we worked to bring the game back online. We are extending the current ESO Plus Free Trial by one day to December 20, 2024. Additionally, we will be enhancing the first two days of the January 2025 Daily Login Rewards. They will consist of the following:
  • Day One- 1000 Seals of Endeavor
  • Day Two-
  • (Qty. 5) Grand Gold Coast Experience Scrolls (150% EXP Scrolls)
We appreciate those who expressed kind words of encouragement during the process and thank you for your patience as we resolved the outage.

Hey folks - here's some answers to the main questions in this thread, as well as some insights to our process and what we're working on to help us better debug the issue(s). Thanks for the questions and please keep on providing feedback! What things do you look at when you get reports about in-game performance issues?  Performance issues and their related investigations are complex, and there are loads of things we look at. Just about anything could be a factor when it comes to performance issues. Generally, the big ones we look at are:
  • The server
  • (s) where the issue is occurring
  • What time
  • (s) the issue occurred
  • Machine specs for impacted players
  • What affected players were doing at the time the issue occurred
  • What addons affected players have installed. All these things combined help us get a full picture of most issues. And from there, we expand our list of what we look a...
