Grumbles in potentially delayed Aurelion update

Currently the Aurelion Sol Rework is not delayed so rejoice. He should still be hitting when we originally planned assuming things get all fixed in time.
Obviously things could change but right now he is safe.

This is a really painful experience for both players and devs, it sucks to potentially not get content out to y'all on time/as expected, especially when the work is done and ready to ship. We have many people across design, engineering, QA, etc assessing what our options are to get players as much of the gameplay-relevant content as possible.

Micropatching in balance changes, for example, is quite viable. On the other hand larger adjustments (Annie for example) are much less clear due to implications on tooltips, death recaps, and in-client information that's usually updated via full server deploys. Just to give an idea what can be expected generally on the gameplay side.

Good luck with it, sometimes i hate balance/champd diff/afk/troll... but in the end it's a good game :)

Appreciated

Does that mean Aurelion Sol will be pushed back a patch? :(

Currently still aiming for 13.3. Possible that could change as we learn more, not currently assumed though

Is there a reason to not tell us what you gonna change on 13.2 ? Like just communicate the exact changes you are planning to do. Othewise the whole thing about patch preview is not worth it.

We are completely unsure on what we can get into 13.2 in the event the patches don't launch as usual, that's why we can't give heads up.

People are on the case to identify what can/can't be micropatched cleanly without bugs/problems, and will be able to communicate that as it becomes more clear.

how the password was stored? salted slow-hash (bcrypt/argon)? salted "normal" hash? plaintext?

in my case it's unique to league but might impact other people

No player data, including your passwords, were affected here.

Hey Meddler, do you think this will affect Wild Rift's release cadence as well, since I saw VAL was having issues too

We're still assessing. Current take is probably not, since WR development as a mobile only game goes through a different process. Should know more for impact on all the games next week though.

Fingers crossed. We've got a lot of people digging in right now, should know more after the next 2-3 days.

oh this explains why pbe is boom

Yep. We'll likely test changes on the PBE by hotfixing to that, then hotfixing to live, so potentially some changes there over the next few days

League specific impact:

TLDR - if the patch doesn't go ahead on the planned date we're going to get as many of the planned+tested balance changes out in a hotfix instead

Edit: For those who also play TFT, same situation and plans to hotfix balance changes where possible

What overlays are you running (Blitz etc)? Built in Xbox - all others are turned off, except toast notifications from adrenaline

Did running the game in DX9 mode help? (You can do this via settings/Game/Prefer DX9 Legacy Mode) N/a have not tried

Did running with SMT/Hyperthreading turned off help? N/a have not yet tried

Hwmonitor shows both GPU and CPU nowhere near full load, temps are around 55C

That sounds like you’re getting excellent performance. What makes you think 180fps is bad?

ASU team is killing it here. Graphics are even beyond what I would expect out of an Unreal 5 tech demo.

One of the funniest things to do while watching this music video and also the video for "Reckless with my heart" is focusing on Ender playing drums. The man looks like he has never seen a rockstar playing drums before and it's hilarious. Though I think he improved a bit in this one.

Real and true. In my defense I wasn't aware I was playing the drums until the day of the shoot and it was impossible to hear the music coming from the tiniest little portable speaker you've ever seen.

I had a little more time to practice this time hehe

You can look me up if you want, my NA summoner name is Riot Auberaun.

Hi /u/NeoLexical. Sharing my view here, I think the team really ought to refocus efforts on VGUs and ASUs, such that there is a higher cadence for each.

I first played League right before the big VGU pushes. It was outstanding to see the pace at which the old and outdated champs were getting brought up to shine like never before. This was among my favorite aspects of the game dev, to see the champs being cared for and updated constantly. To see VGUs become less than 1 per year really blows and hurts, especially when so many champs are starting to show their age now relative to the new additions.

If old champs stop getting updated, the backlog for work grows and with it the game will fall apart. That's my biggest fear right now.

We will / want to continuously update old champions too!

Hello everyone! I want to answer some questions and reflect about the champion team. I’ve been with the team for around a year now, it’s been a blast working with people that are so very talented and passionate about the game and community.

When I first arrived at the team, we were suffering from lots of the downstream effects of Covid. Zeri, Renata and Udyr were all pushed further out to accommodate the various disciplines that had folks down from being sick, having to take time to work on life changes or moving away from the team. I think many of us took the time stuck home as an opportunity to re-examine our lives. Some of us found new adventures within Riot (Me included! I moved from LoR back to LoL) and others have started on new journeys elsewhere. Afterall, many folks on League have been here for quite some time.

With all of the shifts and changes, it became painfully apparent that as a team we are reacting to changes rather than planning for them. Many folk...
